2020 Kia Telluride Named SUV of the Year by Motor Trend

Alone, the large Kia SUV made up a tenth of total sales for that month, with a total of 5080 units sold. That kind of love can only come from an SUV that has everyone talking. It all starts in its birthplace, or places – designed in California but assembled in Georgia – the 2020 Kia Telluride provides consumers with a stylish exterior that is only matched by its comfortable and functional interior. At the end of the day, the Telluride is a well-rounded vehicle that meets the needs of today’s modern families.

In some ways, the Telluride may look a little boxy, but it also has a level of sophistication that gives it a sense of luxury without the luxury price tag. Starting at an MSRP of $31,690 (plus destination fee), it’s affordable for new budding families or families with grown kids seeking adventure. Not only is the Telluride strong enough to tow up to 5000 pounds, but the powertrain doesn’t go overboard, with a 3.8-liter V6 able to generate 291 horsepower as the lineup standard.

These include standard Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist Rear, Lane Following Assist, Rear Occupant Alert, Safe Exit Assist, Forward Collision Assist, Smart Cruise Control, and more. Some trims also offer a forward parking distance warning (rear parking warning standard), a surround view monitor, and highway driving assist.

The _ MotorTrend _ SUV of the Year award is one sought-after by many automakers around the world each year. A judging panel evaluated all vehicles in the contest on six key criteria: safety, efficiency, value, advancement in design, engineering excellence and performance of intended function. The judges compromised of _ MotorTrend _ staff as well as two guest judges – Johan de Nysschen, former head of Audi of America, Infiniti Motor Co.; and Cadillac division and Tom Gale, former head of Chrysler design.
