The Jeep Recon is one of the most anticipated off-road EVs today. The Recon stole some inspiration from the iconic Wrangler, and the all-electric SUV will leave a significant imprint on the American automaker’s transition toward an electric future.

As part of its parent company’s Dare Forward 2030 strategy, Stellantis, Jeep has announced plans to become an all-electric brand in Europe. The American automaker plans to follow Stellantis’ goal to achieve 50% EV sales in the US by the decade’s end (2030).

Jeep recently announced the launch of three new all-electric models that will hit the market soon. The forthcoming EVs include the Avenger, Recon, and Wagoneer S. Earlier this year (2023), the 4×4 automaker unveiled its first-ever EV, the Jeep Avenger, in Europe.

While the Jeep Avenger won Europe’s Car of the Year award for 2023, it has yet to be available in the US. However, Jeep recently announced that its first 100 percent electric vehicles in the US will be the Recon and Wagoneer S. The Jeep EVs will go into production next year (2024).

The Jeep Recon is a fully electric SUV designed to be rugged and capable, taking inspiration from the iconic Jeep Wrangler. The Recon will reveal several options that favor characteristics of the Wrangler, such as removable doors and windows.

The Jeep Recon Will Keep Up With the Likes of the Wrangler

According to Antonella Bruno, the Head of Jeep Europe, the new electric SUV will be positioned alongside the Wrangler in the lineup. Still, the future Jeep SUV will have a distinct positioning.

“The Recon in Europe will be a white-space car. It’s a unique car, very boxy and very capable. It will sit in a lower part of the [market] segment to the Wrangler.”

-Antonella Bruno, Head of Jeep Europe

The Jeep Recon for the UK will render up to 600 horsepower and 373 miles of vast exploration.

“At a global level, we want to be the 4×4 leader in electrification.”

-Bruno

“The Jeep Recon has the capability to cross the mighty Rubicon Trail, one of the most challenging off-road trails in the US, and reach the end of the trail with enough range to drive back to town and recharge.”

-Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep North America

The next EV from Jeep will be the Wagoneer S, a premium midsize electric SUV set to hit the market soon. The American automaker claims that the electric Wagoneer S will come fully loaded inside and out, with a powerful 600 hp electric motor and an impressive range of up to 400 miles. Additionally, the automaker claims that the lush all-electric SUV will readily make a trip from New York City to Toronto on a single charge. The Wagoneer S is expected to be available next year (2024) alongside the Recon.
