Jeep Prepares to Unveil All-Electric Compass Before 2025 Launch

Jeep is gearing up to introduce its all-electric Compass, with plans to unveil the new model by the end of this year ahead (2024) of its 2025 launch in Europe. Here’s what we know about the upcoming electric SUV.

As Jeep transitions into the electric era, the brand is leveraging the resources and technology available through its parent company, Stellantis. The Jeep Avenger, the brand’s first EV, launched in January 2023, was primarily aimed at the European market. Jeep is poised to bring its electric offerings to a broader audience with upcoming models designed to rejuvenate the brand.

In May (2024), Jeep introduced its first global electric vehicle, the Wagoneer S. This mid-size luxury SUV, described by CEO Antonio Filosa as “Distinctly a Jeep and 100% electric in every way,” is built on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform. The Wagoneer S boasts up to 600 horsepower and 617 lb-ft of torque, with an expected “over 300 miles” range on a single charge.

Following the Wagoneer S, Jeep plans to release the Recon, an electric model inspired by the Wrangler. The Recon will retain the Wrangler’s adventurous spirit, featuring options such as removable doors and windows. Jeep also intends to introduce a new Renegade EV priced under $25,000, targeting key markets including the US and Europe, as stated by Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares.

The forthcoming electric Compass is slated to debut before the end of 2024, with Jeep’s UK managing director, Kris Cholmondeley, hinting at a November reveal. This new Compass EV will be available in hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and all-electric variants, aligning with Jeep’s “Freedom of Choice” strategy.

Although the Wagoneer S marks Jeep’s first global EV, Cholmondeley expressed tremendous enthusiasm for the Compass, viewing it as crucial for expanding its market presence. The Compass EV may play a significant role in Jeep’s resurgence in Europe, particularly in a highly competitive segment.

The Compass EV will utilize the STLA Medium platform, which Stellantis introduced in July 2023. This platform offers a WLTP driving range of over 435 miles (700 km) with the performance pack and over 310 miles (500 km) with the standard bag.

Like the Wagoneer S, the Compass EV may feature a “Trailhawk” trim or a rugged variant designed to compete with the Land Rover Defender. While the Compass EV will debut in Europe and the UK in 2025, Jeep has yet to announce its availability in the US. However, considering Jeep’s strategy to revitalize its presence in the American market, an electric Compass could be a likely addition to its lineup.
