Dodge Expands HIP Colors, Adds New Shakedown Package + New Stripes

March 22nd, 2018 by

Dodge likes their vehicles to stick out, and whether that means with bold color choices, unique designs or powerful engines is up to the buyer. Not only is the 2018 model year the most powerful lineup of Dodge vehicles, but it is also one of the most unique looking thanks to the new HIP colors, the new Shakedown Package and the new stripes and interior package available on the Dodge Durango.

New Shakedown Package

In 2016 Dodge debuted a new set of stripes on an old school 1971 Dodge Challenger at SEMA, and the new stripe design is available to buyers with the addition of the new Shakedown Package available on Challenger Shaker models (Challenger R/T Shaker, Challenger R/T Plus Shaker and Challenger 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker). The special stripe design is only available on Challenger Shaker models because the stripe design actually accentuates the shaker by outlining the shaker, but only on one side of the shaker. And not only are the lines unlike traditional racing lines because they don’t only go down the center of the vehicle, but they are actually different thicknesses, which is not typical for racing stripes. The Shakedown Package also includes an improved Alpine speaker system as well as white face gauges on the instrument cluster. The MSRP of the new Shakedown Package is $995, and the package is available with any exterior color.

Dodge Durango’s New Stripes + Carbon Fiber Interior

Before Dodge announced the new Shakedown Package, Dodge announced new stripe options and a new interior option. The new stripe options are available on the Dodge Durango R/T and Durango SRT and they are dual-center stripes and buyers have the option of five different colors. The new interior option, the SRT Interior Appearance Group, is only available on the Dodge Durango SRT and it adds carbon fiber to the vehicle’s instrument panel and door bezels as well as a premium-wrapped instrument panel, a Dinamica soft-touch headliner and accent paint on speaker trim rings. The starting MSRP on the SRT Interior Appearance Group is $2,495.

HIP Colors

As Dodge enthusiasts may have expected, Dodge brought back some High Intensity Paint (HIP) colors, (HIP colors are a select group of bright and bold colors that originated back in 1969) to the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger. The two new HIP colors, Plum Crazy and B5 Blue, join the other available HIP colors, TorRed and Go Mango, as well as several other bright hues. The two new HIP hues are available on all 2018 Charger models and on the Dodge Challenger, their availability is limited to the Dodge Challenger T/A, T/A Plus and T/A 392.
