Minivan vs SUV Miami Lakes Automall

There is no debate that SUVs have a more hip reputation than minivans, but that is all starting to change and the Pacifica is leading the way. Minivans are getting more tech features and are designed to look more modern, and they are absolutely fabulous for families. Think about it, would you rather drive an SUV just because you think it looks cool, or drive a minivan that will be much more accommodating to you and your family?

More Space

Standard SUVs have between two and three rows of seating and passenger capacity ranges from five to seven passengers. However, minivans always have three rows of seating and can seat at least seven passengers. Even if you don’t have that big of a family, having the extra seats for play dates, road trips, or being the “chauffeur parent” is always good. When it comes to cargo, most minivans have over 100 cubic feet of cargo volume, but that number is almost always a lot smaller for SUVs.

Additionally, the Chrysler Pacifica and Dodge Grand Caravan both have Stow ‘n Go seating. Basically, this means the second and third-row seats can be folded into floor storage compartments. This unique features makes it extremely easy to configure the minivan for flat storage space when traveling with a lot of cargo. In fact, the Chrysler Pacifica and the Dodge Grand Caravan actually have over 140 cubic feet of cargo volume. Doesn’t get better than that!

Technology Options

It isn’t new news that kids get bored (fast!), especially on long drives. This is another reason why minivans are a good choice. No matter the van, there are always great technology options like an in-vehicle DVD and entertainment systems. The entertainment system in the Chrysler Pacifica even has games, Bluetooth connection, and wireless headphones. That kind of entertainment is much harder to find in an SUV.

Family Friendly and Safe

The biggest difference (in favor of minivans) between vans and SUVs is the family friendliness. SUVs were made for everyone, not just families. Whereas minivans were designed specifically with families in mind. This means they are more user friendly for families (as mentioned above in technology) as well as are designed for the ease of families. Many vans like the Pacifica even have a handless door opening feature. This allows a mom or dad with kids in each arm, to open the van door problem free. You won’t find this in an SUV and the doors open and close as opposed to sliding like in a van. In addition, the time and effort that would be spent in the production of SUVs to make them look good is spent towards safety in a minivan. Knowing that their will be children in the van, safety is always the main focus of minivan design and production.

Do we have you convinced yet? Want to make your family drives easier with a minivan? We have several options here at Miami Lakes Automall including the famous Chrysler Pacifica, Kia Sedona , and Dodge Grand Caravan.
