Excellent Fuel Savings of the Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid
While the Chrysler Pacifica has some competition in the SUV and minivan segments, the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid’s unique powertrain makes it a leader in fuel economy and versatility in both the SUV and minivan segments.
In 2017, Chrysler replaced the brand’s beloved minivan, the Chrysler Town & Country, with the new Chrysler Pacifica and a PHEV variant, the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is the first minivan available with a plug-in hybrid electric powertrain , so not only does it offer consumers a large versatile space that accommodates people and/or cargo, it also has an excellent fuel economy, which is a rare find in a vehicle that’s as big as the Pacifica Hybrid.
Space
Interior cargo space is typically the one non-negotiable factor for people who are shopping for a vehicle as large as a minivan or a full-size SUV. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid offers spacious seating for seven passengers, and it provides more legroom for second- and third-row passengers than most 7-passenger SUVs on the market. There is up to 39 inches of legroom in the second-row seats and 36.5 inches of legroom in the third-row seats.
Not only is the van spacious, but users can easily adjust the cabin layout to meet their needs. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is equipped with third-row Stow ‘n Go seating, so the third-row seats can easily be folded away to create a large space behind the second-row seats. The third-row seats are 60/40 split-folding seats so its possible for a user to fold down all three seats, two of the seats or only one of the seats.
Fuel Economy
The fuel economy of the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is unmatched by any other vehicle that is as large as the Pacifica. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid can be powered in a number of ways.
Electric
The minivan can travel up to 33 miles on pure electricity, so if a driver doesn’t have long distances to travel at once, it is definitely possible for a driver to do all or a majority of their driving powered by electricity, which is also 33 miles where no emissions are eliminated. When the Chrysler Pacifica is powered by pure electricity, fueleconomy.gov estimates that the cost to drive 25 miles is $1.30, which is dirt cheap compared to the cost of a large vehicle to travel 25 miles.
Gas
The best part about the Pacifica Hybrid is that it offers drivers solutions. Sure, driving on electricity is great for the environment and it reduces fuel costs, but that’s not always ideal, so the Pacifica Hybrid is equipped with a gas-powered engine, too. The gas-powered engine is a more fuel efficient modified version of the 3.6-liter V6 engine that is found in the Chrysler Pacifica. When the Pacifica Hybrid is only powered by its gas engine, it has a combined city/highway fuel economy of 32 mpg, again, still better than any other large passenger vehicle on the market.
Hybrid
Finally, the Chrysler Pacifica can be powered in hybrid mode, which is a combination of the gas-engine and battery-powered electric motors working together. When the Pacifica Hybrid is operating in hybrid mode it has a combined fuel economy of 84 MPGe, and a total driving range of 566 miles.
