Electrified Chrysler and Jeep Models Are Getting New Wall Chargers – Miami Lakes Automall Chrysler
New Wall Chargers
For those who currently own an adventurous Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe or Jeep Wrangler 4xe, or perhaps even a family-oriented Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Mopar, the parts and service division of Stellantis, is bringing in a useful piece of new gear that should provide more practicality in the ownership experience. Owners will soon be in possession of a new at-home wall charger that comes either as a plug-in or hardwired version, and supplies 7.7 kW of power.
With these means, a full charge can be provided to Stellantis electrics in just two hours, which is six times faster than its current Level 1, 120-volt charger. Further tacking on suitability, the new Level 2 unit brings along Wi-Fi connectivity which enables owners to keep track and control the charging of their car through a mobile app or web portal.
Energy Star, a program run by the Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy, has certified every new charging unit and has also optimized for a balance between accessibility, effectiveness, and cost. Doing this makes it easier for buyers to reduce their energy consumption and lower their spending by having the option charge at low-rate times. Additionally, this makes a way for them to engage in energy credit programs, if they’re available.
The Mopar division says that the wall charger is portable, lightweight, lockable, and weatherproof, meaning that it’s an ideal piece of equipment for indoors and outdoors. The suggested retail price is $599, and each unit comes with a three-year warranty. One can also order the unit with a Chrysler and Jeep-branded faceplate.
“Our new factory-backed at-home Level 2 plug-in charging units offer a quick, seamless charging solution for Jeep 4xe and Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid owners,” said Mark Bosanac, North America vice president, Mopar Service, Parts & Customer Care. “At Mopar, we’ll continue to enhance the customer experience and expand our electric-vehicle portfolio of accessories.”
Mopar’s new wall charger signifies what we should expect out of the Stellantis Group during this decade, as their products are currently on grease wheels regarding its electrified products. One of these products includes the Chrysler Airflow concept, which is a preview of how the manufacturer is aiming to expand into a principally-electric company by 2028 by exploiting all of the capabilities of the STLA Large electric platform.
Earlier this month we discussed how Chrysler announced its plans to release its first electric model by 2025 . So far, the plan is to introduce the Airflow as a crossover that is energized by a dual-motor and has enough battery capacity to get up to 400 miles of range. Outside of that, the car may also have new connectivity features that include an operating system dubbed the STLA Brain, which will make way for over-the-air updates.
