What To Expect From The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition
The Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition is just around the corner. Announced almost a year ago, the all-electric pickup truck aims to redefine the pickup truck segment. Chevy recently announced a more economical variant of the Silverado EV called the 3WT, but those wanting the best bang for their buck will want to go with the RST First Edition. The powerful and versatile electric truck will compete against competitors like the Tesla Cybertruck and Ford F-150 Lightning. Given its numerous advantages, consumers in search of an EV truck will want to consider the Silverado EV. From horsepower to battery range, the RST First Edition trumps its competition. We’ll take a closer look at the fully electric truck and see what consumers can expect.Â
RST First Edition Will Arrive Soon
The Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition is almost here. The fully electric pickup truck has been teased for some time as an innovative and powerful EV set to redefine the truck segment. The Silverado EV features a dual motor setup and rides on General Motors’ new Ultium platform, which is designed specifically for EVs. This platform provides the all-electric pickup truck with increased performance and capability. The RST First Edition sees an unrivaled 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque while the base 3WT trim delivers 510 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque. The Silverado EV also sees a 0 to 60 mph time of just 4.5 seconds and offers unique features like Wide Open Watts mode which increases capability.Â
The RST First Edition also features impressive charging capabilities. An issue facing many potential EV consumers is battery range. The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV offers one of the fastest charging speeds thanks to its 24-module battery pack. On top of fast charging consumers also have up to 450 miles of battery range. Owners can expect to fully charge their Silverado EV from zero in just one hour and 15 minutes. With a DC fast charger, the electric truck can add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
Aside from its impressive performance, the Silverado EV also offers functionality. A multi-flex midgate grants owners additional storage by expanding the load floor into the cab. With up to 10,000 pounds of towing capacity, the Silverado EV is more than capable of hauling and towing. The truck’s e4WD system delivers torque to all four wheels simultaneously for better traction. This paired with driver-assist features like a tow/haul mode and an integrated trailer brake controller ensures owners will have no trouble towing. Safety features like automatic emergency braking, forward collision alerts, and Chevy Super Cruise also ensure drivers remain safe. At a starting MSRP of $105,000 (plus destination fee), the 2024 Silverado EV RST First Edition proves to be a groundbreaking electric truck that will pave the way for the segment.Â
