WardsAuto 10 Best Engines, Chevy Volt + Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

Wards Auto just released their list of “10 Best Engines of 2017” and a couple of them are available at Miami Lakes Automall — the 2017 Chevy Volt and the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. Both vehicles are plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) that offer drivers the option to run on pure electricity, gas or a combination of both.

1.5L DOHC 4-Cylinder: 2017 Chevy Volt

For the second year in a row, the engine in the second-generation Chevy Volt has made Wards list of 10 Best Engines. The engine is a Voltec 1.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine, which is paired to a two motor drive unit. The Volt can travel up to 53-miles on pure electricity and when all of the systems works together the Volt has a fuel economy of 106 MPGe and a total driving range of 420 miles.

3.6L DOHC V-6: Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

The engine in the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid also made the list and it has just arrived at a few dealership lots. The engine is a modified version of Chrysler’s signature 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine and it has an increased gas fuel economy (32 MPG combined city/highway) in comparison to the engine on the non-hybrid Pacifica (22 MPG combined city/highway).

Additionally, the engine is paired to lithium-ion battery and two electric motors. When the engine and motor work together, the vehicle has a total range of 566 miles and a fuel economy of 84 MPGe. On only electricity, the Pacifica Hybrid can travel up to 33 miles.
