Similarities Between the Bolt and Volt

Owners of either vehicle are going to have some of the most fuel efficient vehicles on the planet. There’s no doubt there about their benefits towards helping reduce the carbon footprint left behind for owners as well as saving thousands over the course of owning either of these vehicles. How much of savings? Over $5,000 in five years of driving for the Bolt EV and up to $4,500 of savings on gas over five years for the Chevy Volt, when compared to other vehicles.

The Bolt and Volt share the same LT and Premier trim name, with the Premier being the luxury trim on both models. They both come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay features and have a large display as apart of their infotainment center. The Bolt EV carries a 10.2-inch display, while the Volt comes with an updated 8-inch display. They are modern and sleek interiors with standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspots and are spacious throughout, carrying generous legroom for guests. They offer a quiet cabin, quality parts and will make any commute comfortable for drivers.

Both vehicles also gain the same government incentives for owners who purchase either of these cars, saving owners even more money! The U.S. federal government and a number of states offer financial incentives, including tax credits. The federal Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax credit ranges from $2,500 to $7,500 for new plug-in hybrids and EVs purchased for use in the U.S.. Consumers can then use this credit to pay less taxes on that tax year (filed the following year). Both of these vehicles qualify for the maximum amount of $7500.

Differences Between the Bolt and Volt

The 2019 Chevy Bolt EV has an incredible 238-mile range by using the 60 kWh 350-Volt battery alone. The 128 city and 110 highway MPGe offered by the Bolt EV are remarkable and produce zero emissions. The Bolt EV Premier trim adds leather-seating, chrome accents and heated rear seating. The latest edition will include new paint colors like Green Mist Metallic, Shock, Slate Gray Metallic, and Shock Yellow but there’s no official word on whether every color will be available for all trims. The Bolt EV provides 17 cubic feet of trunk space as opposed to the Volt that only offers 10.6 cubic feet.

For those that can’t wait to see the latest third-generation 2019 Chevy Bolt, we’re just as excited to find out more about it as well. One thing we do know is the 2019 Chevy Bolt boasts 200 horsepower with 266 lb-ft of torque, while the 2019 Chevy Volt increases that number up to 294 lb-ft of torque with 149 horsepower.

The 2019 Chevy Volt is powered by a 18.4 kWh 300-Volt lithium-ion battery that has a battery-only range of 53 miles, but a 420 total mile range with a full charge and full 9-gallon tank. The best thing about both vehicles is the improved charging time that is provided by the new 7.2 KW charging system that is standard on the Premier trim and available for the LT trim. There’s no doubt this is part of the reason fans of the Chevrolet products are driving these vehicles.

They Both Require Charging, But Differ In Results

Both vehicles also gain the same government incentives for owners who purchase either of these cars, saving owners even more money! The federal Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax credit is for $2,500 to $7,500 per new EV purchased for use in the U.S., which both of these vehicles qualify.

The Bolt EV is purely an electronic-vehicle that charges in 9.3 hours at 220-volt outlet charging. This all-electric car is capable of providing up to 238 miles off a single charge, which is nothing short of remarkable. The choice is up to the owner for which vehicle they want to own. The new 2019 Chevy Volt is due to roll out in stores in fall 2018. The 2018 Chevy Bolt is already for sale, but the new 2019 is expected for winter 2018.
