Head to Head: 2018 Dodge Durango SRT v. Chevy Tahoe RST

Have you heard about the 2018 Chevy Tahoe RST (Rally Street Truck) and the Dodge Durango SRT (Street Racing Technology)? They are both fairly new, striking in looks and capable in performance, but both vehicle also have their differences.

Engine Specs

The biggest difference between the two SUVs is the differences in engine. The Durango SRT is equipped with a more powerful engine 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that produces up to 474 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque with a 8,600 pound towing capacity.

The Chevy Tahoe RST comes standard with a smaller engine, a 5.3-liter HEMI V8 option that puts out 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. However, for the first time buyers can upgrade to a 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine that produces up to 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The most capable engine will be able to tow up to 8,400 pounds, just a little less than the Durango.

Performance Features

Of course, both vehicles come with performance features both standard and optional that no other SUVs on the trim lineup have. The Durango SRT comes with a newly designed SRT hood, AWD performance, a high-performance exhaust system, a track mode, massive Brembo brakes and more.

The Tahoe RST comes with standard performance technology, but the available features with the 6.2L Performance Package are where the Tahoe RST really shines. In addition to the package including the 6.2-liter V8 engine mentioned above, the package also comes loaded with some great performance features. Some of the features in the package include a magnetic ride control suspension, a Borla performance exhaust, six-piston Brembo brakes, VVT technology and active fuel management technology.

Style

Style is another area where the Tahoe RST shines. The Durango SRT is all about performance and it has some upgraded style features. However, the Tahoe RST is all about giving the Tahoe a sporty and upgraded style. It’s exterior style features include 22-inch wheels wrapped with Bridgestone tires, a black sport grille, black RST badging and bowties, and black running board, mirror caps, exhaust tips, roof racks and window trim.

Price

Finally, what you have been waiting to find out (probably), price! The Dodge Durango SRT has a price tag of $63,000 which includes one free day driving course at the Bob Bondurant SRT driving school.
