100,000 Reserved The Electric Silverado

The Chevrolet company recently unveiled its first-ever electric pickup truck, and it’s safe to say that its reception was well received, with at least 110,000 people already signing up to make a purchase.

As many automakers are fighting the good fight in the transition of becoming an electric brand, we imagine that it must be gratifying for any automotive company to receive interest in their new hybrid or fully-electric models.

It is worth mentioning, however, that while Chevy’s numbers show some enticement for the truck, they still have some ways to go before completely replacing the love that Americans have for their gas-powered vehicles. In 2021, the car company sold close to 520,000 non-electric Silverados, reaching right behind the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500.

Another important detail is that a reservation is just that…a reservation. An interested buyer could reserve their right to the truck by paying a fee of $100, and if they change their mind, the payment is refundable. Various details regarding the new Silverado are being kept hush-hush, it’s possible that some may not follow through with their reservation.

More Info On The Silverado EV

The latest Silverado is scheduled to arrive in the spring of next year as a 2024 model. It will also include two trim levels.

The basic work truck (WT) model will have a starting price of $39,000, (plus destination fee). It has a capable output of 510 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque. The company estimates that it will carry a range close to 400 miles between charges. Towing capacity is also 8,000 lbs, while the payload is at 1,200 lbs.

The second option and last option will be a fully loaded RST model. This sticker price reaches all the way up to $105,000, (plus destination fee), but it includes a boatload of conveniences that make it all worth it. It also increases its speed and strength, with 644 horsepower and 780 lb-ft of torque. It can also tow up to 10,000 lbs and has a payload of 1,300.

The automaker maker says that more trim levels will be revealed before the arrival date, including an adventurous Trail Boss version, with a price currently unknown.

More Electric Pickups Coming Our Way

The fun doesn’t stop there in the automotive world and their electric pickups, as there are more vehicles in store for us! The Silverado EV will sit on General Motors’ (GM) new Ultium electric vehicle architecture. This unit will contain all of the necessary components and batteries and can be set up to build vehicles of many shapes and sizes.

GM has already made strides in the pickup segment with its Hummer EV. This truck follows the R1T from the startup company, Rivian. When we see the Silverado, those who will have been accompanied by Ford’s F-150 Lightning EV, which has already received an impressive amount of reservations.
