Safety Technology Available on Chevrolet Model Lineup

Chevrolet has been the most awarded car company for two years in a row. In addition, to recognizing the brand for the diversity of its lineup and excellence in engineering, Chevy has also earned awards for safety. Chevrolet has proven their dedication to driver and passenger safety by offering up-to-date technologies across their lineup. Here are just a few highlights of various safety features that Chevrolet has available on their vehicles.
Preventative Technology
Chevrolet has been a quick brand to adopt intelligent safety tech systems that have been proven to reduce accidents. One example of all the preventative systems available on Chevy models is on the 2016 Chevy Cruze . The Cruze, like many other Chevy models, is available with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist and Forward Collision Alert. Each of these systems use radar sensors that monitor other traffic near the vehicle.
The all-new Forward Collision Alert warns drivers if they are approaching the vehicle in front of them too quickly. The Rear Cross Traffic Alert monitors traffic behind and on the side of the vehicle and warns drivers about those vehicles on the rear vision camera. Lane Keep Assist notifies drivers when the system detects the vehicle unintentionally drifting from the lane and gently helps steer the vehicle back into the lane if the driver doesn’t take action.
Additionally, all Chevy vehicles are standard with the Stabilitrak Electronic Stability Control System that’s standard on all Chevrolet vehicles. This technology works by automatically helping in situations with low-traction driving situations. When the system detects loss of traction, it improves the vehicle’s chance of staying safe by applying braking and steering needed for safety.
Teen Driver
Chevy also offers safe driver technology for teens and is the only car company to offer teen driver tech with a report. The Teen Driver system is available built-in system that lets parents set speed alerts, a volume limit and more. The teen’s driving is recorded while they are driving and parents can view a variety of stats from the drive including how fast their teen was driving, how many alerts their teen driver triggered and if seat belts were worn. The Chevy Teen Driver system really helps to give parents a piece of mind when the family’s newest driver is on the road.
Car Safety
In addition to new preventive safety tech features, Chevy uses sturdy materials and 360-degree airbags that help protect the driver and passengers in case of an accident. Chevrolet vehicles are made with durable materials that absorb the energy from an accident and dissipate it before it can cause too much harm to passengers and the driver.
Finally, all Chevy vehicle are installed with OnStar, and many vehicles come with a complimentary subscription to the service for the first year or two years within their new vehicle purchase. The OnStar system senses when the car has been in an accident it uses GPS technology to communicate the accident to responders and helps them get out to the vehicle’s exact location fast.
