The new battery will get a range of about 40 miles before it has to be recharged. However, the official distance is still waiting for verification from the Environmental Protection Agency.

This is the third time that Chevrolet has increased the battery capacity and, therefore, the range of the car. The battery capacity was improved to 16.5 kilowatt hours in 2013, and the price of the car was lowered that same year. The company continues a trend of increasing the performance of the car while also making it more affordable for more drivers.

More Improvements Already in Motion

Chevrolet is already planning more changes for the 2016 model. The battery capacity is expected to be the same, but the price may drop to about $30,000, and changes are expected to both the interior and the exterior design.
