Chevrolet Reveals New SS Pace Car | Chevy Dealership
While Chevrolet is known for producing some high-performing vehicles with some powerful engines, the types of vehicles you can buy at a Chevy dealership have nothing on the types of vehicles you will find on the race track. It’s there you can see the full potential power of the Chevy brand.
Now, Chevrolet is ready to debut a new SS pace car at the “Crown Royal Presents the John Wayne Walding 400 at the Brickyard Powered by BigMachineRecords.com.” (That’s a mouthful for an event title!)
Chris Pratt, the star of the upcoming movie “Guardians of the Galaxy” and the hit TV show “Parks and Recreation,” will be driving the new car at the event. Pratt will only be an honorary driver participating in pre-race activities. He will not actually be competing in the race.
Not Your Typical Pace Car
The new Chevrolet SS pace car has an engine with 415 horsepower and a peak torque of 563 Nm (415 pounds per feet). The race car has a 6.2-liter V8 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in about five seconds.
The pace car looks as good as it drives. It doesn’t look like a typical race car, and is a bit more boxy like a sedan. Yet you can see all the markings of speeds and power on the car in its design. The model that will be featured at the event has a deep, cherry paint job.
The race will take place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 27. Two dozen drivers will compete, including Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Casey Mears, Danica Patrick, Michael Annett, Kasey Kahne, Kevin Harvick, Austin Dillon and Jamie McMurray all in Chevy vehicles.
You don’t have to be a race car driver to experience the power that a Chevrolet has to offer. You can head down to any Chevy dealership and find a sedan, truck or SUV that will give you the power and performance you need. You can get in the driver’s seat and imagine you are in your own personal race instead of fighting your way through rush hour traffic. Just make sure you don’t try to reach race speeds!
