GM Donates Volts to Students | Chevrolet Dealership

The nonprofit group MBAs Across America sends graduate students around the country to counsel small businesses and help them improve their operations and their profitability. GM recently leant its support to the group by donating 12 Chevrolet Volts for the student teams to drive on their summer tour.

Eight teams of students will travel to 25 cities to counsel small business owners and offer help where needed. One business that they helped last year, the barber shop The Social Club Grooming Co. in Detroit, tripled its revenue and landed a $100,000 investment.

The students will try to help nearly 50 small businesses on their tour this year, which started in mid-June. Students were in Detroit at the end of July, and they moved on to Nashville and Chicago in early August.

The graduate students come from business schools at Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, Babson, the University of Michigan and the University of California at Berkeley. Each team contains two dozen students.

GM said that it wanted to support the program because their work represents the spirit of Chevrolet: Ingenuity and creating value.

The students will be able to use the Chevy Volts to drive from business to business and city to city. The COO of MBAs Across America, Michael Baker, said that the students wouldn’t be able to do their work without the cars. He also pointed out that the Volts are especially useful because they include 4G LTE hotspots, allowing students to do their work on the go.
