Chevrolet Silverado HD is J.D. Power’s Most Dependable Model

The Chevrolet Silverado HD has been named J.D. Power’s Most Dependable Model for 2019. Chevrolet, among Lexus and Buick, has been ranked in the top 5 vehicle dependability. It secured the most dependable sizeable heavy-duty pickup category.

This year, the study showed a 4 percent increase on overall dependability for three-year-old models. But there is something that J.D. Power vice president of global automotive Dave Sargent believes will make any brand a contender for more customers. That is valuing customer’s demands and preferences.

The Chevrolet Silverado HD is the heavy-duty truck that pushes the boundaries when it comes to capability while still offering comfort, high-tech interior for a connected and fun driving experience. PERFORMANCE:

There are three engine options available for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD. Included is a 6.0-liter Vortec V8 that either has gasoline or LPG/CNG and the third option is a 6.6-liter V8 Duramax diesel. The 6.0-liter Vortec V8 produces 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque when running on gasoline and it is also FlexFuel E85-capable.

All models come with an all-wheel drive or selectable driving modes that you can choose at the time of purchase. There are plug-in hybrids and full-electric powertrains available, as well as non-hybrid vehicles. The 2019 Silverado 2500 HD uses a six-speed automatic transmission with tow/haul mode and Auto Grade Braking to minimize the amount of braking needed while towing or driving downhill.

INTERIOR:

As for the interior, the Silverado HD comes equipped with noise-dampening cabin materials. The triple-sealed doors ensure for a quiet ride with passengers. Also available are remote keyless entries, steering wheel audio controls, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability is also standard on all trims.

TECHNOLOGY:

As for technology, there are steering wheel controls to answer phone calls, and you can manage the available Chevrolet Infotainment System with a 7-inch or open 8-inch diagonal color touch-screen display and operate cruise control. Also available are USB ports and 110-volt power outlet, the wireless charging pad for compatible smartphones, and the myChevrolet Mobile App. The technology available for newbies in towing is a Tow Hookup Checklist, A Backup Camera with Hitch View, Trailer Light Test, Hill-Hold Assist and Electro-Hydraulic Braking.

SAFETY:

Safety technologies included are Tow/Haul Mode, Hill Start Assist, Digital Steering Assist, and StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway Control. The Diesel Exhaust Brake is an available technology that “uses engine compression to reduce the amount of conventional braking needed while towing or traveling downhill,” according to chevrolet.com. The integrated trailer brake controller features seamlessly integrate with trailer brakes during normal braking and with Trailer Sway Control.

Other safety features are auto grade braking which assists with braking on long downhill grades by initiating transmission downshifts. Silverado uses 4-wheel disc brakes with Duralife Rotors, which help to prevent warping and provide corrosion resistance to help extend rotor life. All 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD models come with six standard airbags.
