Built from the ground-up, this assembly plant is going to have a lot of work to meet the standards of Chevrolet and Chevrolet consumers.
“We know the needs and priorities of heavy-duty customers are different than those of either light-duty or medium-duty customers…As such, we built a heavy-duty truck tailor-made for them that has more differentiation than ever before from light-duty models, offers advanced towing technologies to improve towing confidence and includes new features such as the integrated Bedstep, which makes it easier to access the bed while pulling a fifth-wheel trailer.” – Jaclyn McQuaid, chief engineer, Silverado HD.
When it comes to towing capabilities, consumers can get the right power from two new powertrain choices for the 2020 Silverado HD. For 2020, an all-new gasoline engine with direct injection and mated to a six-speed transmission is being designed, along with the Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8, able to deliver 910 lb-ft of torque and paired with an Allison 10-speed transmission. Plus, consumers will be offered new, customer-focused trailering technology with the 2020 Chevy Silverado HD, making significant increases to the towing and payload capabilities of the truck as well as the convenience for the consumer.
