The Chevy Colorado is a truck for the city and adventure and in 2015 and 2016 it was Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year. Not many trucks give drivers the best of both worlds like the Colorado does. The Colorado is strong and powerful like a truck should be, and it’s also fuel efficient and affordable. What makes the Colorado so great for the city? Here are the top four reasons.
There are three available engines for the Colorado, all of which are strong, capable, and have good fuel economy, particularly for a truck. The base engine is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder DI DOHC VVT engine, there is also a 3.6-liter V6 DI DOHC VVT engine, and a 2.8-liter Duramax Turbo-diesel 4-cylinder engine. The base 2.5L engine produces up to 200 horsepower (perfect for city driving), and the 3.6L V6 has best-in-class 308 horsepower for those who want a little more power. Then, there is the Duramax engine which is able to produce 181 horsepower and up to 369 lb-ft of torque, making it best-in-class torque
The one issue people have with trucks, especially if the driving they do is a lot of city driving is their fuel economy. However, the Colorado is very fuel efficient, especially for a truck. The base engine gets an impressive 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway and the V6 engine, although bigger still gets an estimated 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The diesel engine gets the most impressive fuel economy 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. You have to admit, no matter which engine you choose, the fuel efficiency is impressive!
Many times, city driving or highway driving in a truck means towing. Whether it be towing a car, trailer, or a boat for family vacation, the Chevy Colorado has best-in-class towing capacity to provide you with all your towing needs! The Colorado’s towing capacity depends on the engine, but the most capable engine, the V6, is able to tow up to 7,000 pounds, which in many cases is just enough!
The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado is one of the most affordable pickup trucks on the market. Not to mention, in comparison to other trucks, drivers will save money on fuel costs. When equipped with the 2.5L engine, the Colorado has a starting MSRP of $20,055.
