3 New Standard Features on the 2016 Chevy Equinox

March 24th, 2016 by

The 2016 Chevy Equinox in Miami got revamped this year and comes with a slew of new standard features. That’s right, not a host of optional features, but standard ones. Typically, the opposite is true. A vehicle will get redesigned and receive a multitude of optional features and very little in the way of standard features. Thankfully, Chevy has always been good about putting its customers’ happiness first. These standard features include three particularly nice additions. The Equinox received a restyled front end that lends itself to a more modern design, along with a standard seven-inch diagonal color touch-screen on the base trims, and an increase in storage space thanks to a cleverly engineered inside.

Naturally, there are many more, but these are the most noticeable of the three when looking at the redesigned 2016 Equinox.

Restyled Front End

This front end is much more dynamic than the predecessor and has a defined and angular structure that works exceptionally well with the body. Chevy’s signature bowtie emblem and split-grille are a nice touch, and the halogen projector beam headlamps and grille are both split by the same character line that runs over and down to the wheels. On the bottom half of the front-end, there are two black ports that line up with the headlights; these are used for LED daytime running lights on a higher trim. Those empty ports aren’t a complete loss on the lower trims however and compliment the black grille and front-bumper nicely.

Overall, the restyled front-end design provides a much needed sense of refinement to the 2016 Chevy Equinox.

Seven-inch Diagonal Color Touch-Screen

The seven-inch diagonal color touch-screen was only available on the higher trims for the 2015 model. Now, it comes standard on the lower trim levels. This touch screen is powered by Chevrolet MyLink with Bluetooth wireless technology, which can be used to connect to calls, look up contacts, select music, and much more. Or, you can use the voice commands available to do that as well. Siri Eyes Free is also available for iPhone users, and the system allows hands-free interaction for reading a text or writing one, make a phone call, or playing music.

To further enhance Chevy MyLink and Siri Eyes Free, the Equinox also offers available 4G LTE Wi-Fi powered through OnStar to reinforce smart phone integration, creating a much more intuitive smart phone experience.

Ample Storage Room

The storage room has been upgraded in the Equinox as well and can now store up to 63.7 cu-ft. Primarily, this is thanks to the Multi-Flex sliding rear seat, which slides back and forth to add either eight-inches of leg room, or folds down to help create more storage space. The 60/40 split-folding seats provide the rest of the cargo space.

Whether it’s transporting the family, your projects, or groceries, the Equinox is able to provide the seating configuration that fits your needs. Along with these three new standard features, the 2016 Chevy Equinox still has all the same great standard features from before, along with some new options, such as Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert for safety.
