The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is almost here. Having made its debut for commercial and fleet customers, Chevy is ensuring the retail version is ready to go as preorders start to open. Called the RST First Edition, the all-electric pickup truck has been teased as a new competitor to other EV trucks like the Ford F-150 Lightning and Tesla Cybertruck. Chevy’s latest updates for the Silverado EV provide the all-electric truck with a new trim called the 3WT which is a more economical variant. The automaker has been steadily improving its EV lineup teasing the Equinox EV and refreshed Blazer EV. While EVs have seen some resistance as of late, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV proves to be a highly capable and versatile truck. As such, we’ll take a look at Chevy’s recent updates and see what consumers can expect from the 3WT trim.

What To Expect From The 2024 Silverado EV 3WT

Chevy is adding a new trim for the all-new 2024 Silverado EV called the 3WT. This new trim builds off of the base WT trim which was designed for commercial and fleet customers. Chevy initially produced the WT trim as a highly capable and versatile EV for organizations wanting to shift toward more sustainable transportation. With 510 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque, the Silverado EV WT proves to be a fully capable work truck. For retail customers, Chevy debuted the RST First Edition with plans to release a more affordable version of the all-electric truck. That version comes now in the form of the 3WT which starts at an MSRP of $74,900 (plus destination fee).

While the RST First Edition offers superior capability and versatility compared to the WT trim, it starts at an MSRP of $105,000 (plus destination fee). For the price, the fully electric pickup truck offers unrivaled performance delivering 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque. The all-electric Silverado EV First Edition also features a 0 to 60 mph time of just 4.5 seconds. Unique features like Wide Open Watts mode also enhance the truck’s capability. While the RST First Edition proves to be a tough contender in the EV sphere, Chevy plans to introduce additional trims like the 3WT.

Consumers who purchase the new Silverado EV 3WT trim can expect impressive performance and capability. The all-electric pickup truck features a new 1FL Fleet package which equips the truck with 18-inch wheels. The 3WT features a max towing capacity of 12,500 pounds and a payload capacity of 1,750 pounds. Modes like tow/haul and features like an integrated trailer brake controller and hitch guidance ensure owners will have no trouble towing and hauling wherever they go. For battery range, the Silverado EV sees up to 393 miles. Using a DC fast charger, the electric truck can add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. Whether consumers choose the 3WT or the all-powerful RST First Edition, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is looking to dominate the EV truck market.
