America’s favorite muscle car comes back swinging with the 2022 Camaro, making some subtle changes like added exterior designs with the Design Package 3, the elimination of two new paint colors and the addition of two new ones, the discontinuation of the 1LE Track Performance Package for some variants, and the Brembo copper-free braking system for top Camaro’s.
The 2022 Chevrolet Camaro maintains its excellent selection of powertrains. Starting off with the standard 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged engine on the LS and LT trims, providing an output of 275 horsepower with 295 horsepower. The same trims get a significant boost when paired with the 3.6-liter V6, as it has an output of 335 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque.
The SS amplifies these figures with 455 horses for the 6.2-liter engine with matching numbers with its torque, with the supercharged version of the V8 outranking them all with an output of 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.
All of these muscle manias use a 6-speed manual and the optional automatic which has a rev-matching automatic for V8s. The ride can be enhanced by the convertible body, as this does away with several blind spots once the roof is removed. All one has to do is simply lower the top with a push of the button and it will easily fold behind the back seat. Additionally, the blocking of the rain and wind noise is done seamlessly when the roof is up.
The new Design Package 3 for the LT and SS trims involves 20-inch alloy wheels, satin black hood stripe, and aero accessories. There’s even a choice of other exterior elements for these models.
As far as the paint choices are concerned, Vivid Orange Metallic and Rapid Blue, while Crush orange and Shock/acid green are so last year.
The interior of the latest Camaro has better materials and a modernized look. Its front seats are quite cozy and its straightforward layout gives the car some extra brownie points. An optional head-up display is purposeful. This vehicle also can be had with programmable ambient interior lighting, allowing for some rather pleasing visuals. The Camaro is also unbeatable in regards to its cargo space and interior storage.
Standard comforts on the 1LS coupe involve 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry/ignition, single-zone automatic climate control, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather-wrapped/flat-bottomed steering wheel, limited-slip differential, and selectable driving modes.
Some other desirable features include a 7-inch touchscreen as part of the car’s infotainment system, which consists of wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, Wi-Fi, two USB ports, Bluetooth, and a 6-speaker audio system. The 1LT provides a bit more bang for your buck by adding on dual-zone automatic climate control and satellite radio, along with eligibility for more options.
