Chevrolet has made some changes to its upcoming mid-size pickup, the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado. The 2021 model year will launch with a brand new Custom Special Edition as well as other goodies Chevrolet fans have waited for. Along with this special edition is an array of Colorado options including an enhanced ZR2, the return of the ZR2 Bison, and the addition of the 2.8-liter turbodiesel inline-4 engine. All Chevy Colorado trims have noticeable cosmetic upgrades to the front and rear, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen is standard on all but the base WT trim. The nameplate came back in 2015, but the Chevy Colorado is helped by this refresh to go up against the growing mid-size truck segment that includes the Ford Ranger, Jeep Gladiator, and a refreshed Toyota Tacoma.

More About the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado

Chevrolet has added “Chevrolet” lettering instead of the bowtie over the grille across all four trims. The bowties will be updated to match the bigger grilles where the “Chevrolet” lettering is present. A new Sand Dune Metallic paint will be available on all Z trims.

As Chevy pledges a wider differentiation between trims, the WT, LT, and Z71 trims all have gotten some tweaks. Owners will spot new center bars, lower bumpers, and added for protection are front skid plates. The Custom trim available on the base WT adds body-color grille, mirrors, door handles, and rear bumper, as well as 18-inch aluminum wheels. Owners can opt for a newly introduced Chrome Appearance Package available for the LT model. This will fit the Chevy Colorado with chrome across the grille, door handles, rear bumper, belt-line molding, and on the heated manual-folding side mirrors, although the pricing for this package hasn’t been listed.

ZR-2 Gains the Most Enhancements

The ZR2 off-road variant has added more than any other trim. The first way to tell is from the front, regarding the high mesh grille. Along with the “Chevrolet” bar branded across the middle, drivers will spot the lower fascia is more extensive and smooth with the upper bumper. This trim also brings standard red tow hooks in the front.

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado offers owners with three powertrain options, including a 200 horsepower 2.5-Liter 4-cylinder, a 308 horsepower 3.6-Liter V6, and a 181 horsepower, 2.8-Liter turbodiesel inline-4 that produces 369 pound-feet of torque. The 2021 Colorado can be fitted with an extended cab or crew cab in rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. There is some more good news coming into 2020 as the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado is set to go on sale by the end of summer.
