New Ram 1500 Earns Four-Star Safety Rating – Miami Lakes Automall Ram
The Ram 1500 received some serious updates for the 2016 model year. While it isn’t considered an entirely new generation for the full-size pickup truck, the changes made to the 2016 Ram 1500 were distinct enough to stand out, and remain competitive in the pickup truck segment. Two new models, updated air suspensions, redesigned grilles, and new standard technology, were all added to the latest Ram 1500 lineup.
Most notably, however, were the changes made to the pickup to improve safety scores. Ram put a lot of effort into designing the latest Ram 1500 to improve upon safety scores, and crash test results. Engineers modified both the frame and body of the full-size pickup truck, improving the safety scores of the 1500 in all categories.
2016 Ram 1500 Earns Four-Star Safety Rating
The efforts from Ram paid off in a big way, regarding safety changes made to the pickup. The new Ram 1500 was just awarded with a four-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The NHTSA is a government agency, tasked with rating all vehicles sold in the United States on their safety performance. The highest score possible from the government is five stars, which the Ram 1500 did earn on the side crash test. Despite this high rating in one test, the Ram 1500 received four stars in the front crash test, resulting in the truck’s overall score of four-stars.
The four-star rating is definitely something for Ram to be proud of, as a four-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is a highly sough-after honor. The latest Ram 1500 model offers great standard safety features, which helped the truck earn its four stars. Standard safety features include six airbags, electronic stability control, and anti lock brakes. Ram offers a rear view camera as an option on the base 1500 model, while all other trim levels receive one standard.
Fiat-Chrysler, the parent company of Ram, announced that the new 2016 Ram 1500 features new body and frame modifications, specifically designed for better safety results.
