Full-size trucks are beloved by many enthusiasts in North America. Additionally, people rely on them for family traveling, towing, home projects, and a plethora of other endeavors. After all, when there are vehicles as versatile and capable as they are, it is unsurprising that they dominate the market. That said, the current-generation Ram 1500 is due for a refresh since its introduction to the market in the 2018 model year. It suggests spy photographers have been catching glimpses of the pickup trucks encased in camouflage, and the most recent variant is the off-road-focused Rebel trim.

What Photographers Have Captured

According to what sources have covertly spotted, heavy covers are in place at the front and rear. Despite the camouflage, however, this truck looks similar to the first mid-cycle refresh sighting in July 2023. For example, both are black with black wheels, but this time the truck bears a slightly different appearance. It boasts black mirrors, and there is no chrome in sight around the windows. Not only that, the white letter tires and distinct ride height are telltale signs of the legendary Rebel trim. Upon closer inspection of the grille, it becomes even more evident that the automobile is a Rebel trim.

As the vehicle is in motion, the wind pushes the coverings against the front of the truck, and it is easy to see the Ram 1500 Rebel trim’s unique design outlined behind the wrappings. Based on that observation, it appears the grille is a bit larger than what can be found on current trims. In addition, the headlights could be smaller, and since the lower fascia is also covered, it can be deduced that some design modifications are to be expected there as well.

As for the back, the 2025 Ram 1500 Rebel might encounter some possible changes to the bumper and updates to the tail lights. Most notably, perhaps, is that “dual exhaust pipes are in plain sight, exiting through small cutouts in the bumper just as they do on the current Ram 1500.” Indeed, what those pipes are connected to could be the most significant change for the truck.

Under the Hood

The Ram 1500 Rebel is poised to receive a new engine option for the upcoming refresh, which is expected to be the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six currently in use with Jeep. It is worth noting that the manufacturer has yet to officially confirm this information. Still, as the Hemi V-8 engine is beginning to fade into the background for Stellantis vehicles, the powerful Hurricane I6 will likely replace it. With greater fuel efficiency and power, it makes a suitable substitute, even though some adamant enthusiasts will always prefer the Hemi. Of note, there is black tape on the hood where there would usually be a badge. Based on educated speculation, there is a very good chance the emblem says something to the effect of turbo or 3.0. All in all, it could be a beneficial alteration.

In top tune, the 3.0-liter turbo engine accelerates up to 510 horsepower while producing 500 pound-feet of torque, which should be more than satisfactory to suit towing and off-roading needs. As for when customers might see the updated Ram without camouflage, that remains an unknown factor. Even so, sources believe the new and improved pickup truck will arrive in the 2025 model year. As such, a reveal could occur either later this year (2023) or sometime in early 2024.
