What’s New for the 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross?
As we near the end of the year, automakers will start to sell new model year vehicles for the next round. Some vehicles don’t get any changes, while others get a whole refresh. After its recent facelift, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross gets a new SE Black Edition. What else is new for the 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross?
Lineup and Powertrain
Until further notice, the lineup still consists of the ES, LE, SE, and SEL, with a new SE Black Edition added for 2025. The entire lineup is also powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine able to generate 152 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Built to be more than an SUV, the Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel drive system can tackle a variety of road conditions. With a fuel economy of 26/29 mpg city/highway, there’s a lot of ground to cover out there.
Update to the SE Black Edition
The new SE Black Edition comes with a unique front lip and rear spoiler. Like all Black Edition (BE) appearance packages, various components of the vehicle may be blacked-out, such as the emblems, all-black tires, etc. With LED headlamps and fog lights, daytime running LED lights, color-LED rear taillights, and an LED high-mount stop light all standard, it would look pretty bad—well, you know. Rear privacy glass, roof rails, and heated exterior mirrors should come standard. For star gazing, a power panoramic sunroof and black roof rails was available SE and SEL trims with an add-on package in 2024, and we expect something similar for 2025.
The interior doesn’t have any major updates. 60/40 split-rear bench, a 6-way adjustable driver seat, four-way adjustable passenger seat, and automatic climate control should still be lineup standards, with more features becoming available past the base, like heated front seats. An 8-way power driver seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and synthetic suede upholstery showed up in the SE trim, with leather upholstery in the SEL.
Technology
We’re still waiting on the new infotainment system Mitsubishi Motors is supposed to get out of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance partnership with Google. Until further notice, the standard tech setup is a 7.0-inch touchscreen, (8-inch past the base), HD Radio, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and a four-speaker sound system. More and more automakers are adding connected services technology to their vehicles. In recent years, Mitsubishi Motors started to add Mitsubishi Connect, starting with the SE trim in 2024, and presumably 2025. Navigation and a six-speaker system should also be the standard, with upgraded entertainment systems in the SEL trim.
Safety features have some basic advanced systems to help mitigate or avoid incidents, including a forward collision mitigation system and lane departure warning system with pedestrian detection. A standard rear seat alert has been added for 2025. In 2024, Adaptive Cruise Control was added to the SE trim, and should return.
As always, all Mitsubishi models come with a basic 5-year/60,000-mile warranty. It also has a limited powertrain warranty for 10-years/100,000 miles and an anti-corrosion warranty for 7-years/100,000 miles. Finally, roadside assistance comes with a 5-year warranty.
