Looking for a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) for the family? Researchers in the auto industry say many consumers are more willing to purchase a new PHEV rather than a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) thanks to the option that they can still gas up at a gas station and charge up when it’s most convenient. One of the most affordable on the market today comes from Mitsubishi Motors. Get behind the wheel behind a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and check out what makes it the perfect PHEV for families.

Powered by a 2.4-liter inline-four-cylinder engine and a 20 kwH lithium-ion battery powering a twin motor system. The gas engine is optimized with Mitsubishi Motors MIVEC timing system for better performance and fuel economy. Together, the engine and electric motor generate a combined output is 244 horsepower. The gas engine generates 144 lb-ft of torque, with an additional 188 lb-ft of torque from the front electric motor and 143 lb-ft of torque from the rear electric motor. For the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, the fuel economy is 64 MPGe, an all-electric range (AER) of 38 miles, and a total range is 420 miles.

Exterior and Interior Features are many, depending on which trim a consumer chooses. The standard features consist of automatic headlights, LED high beam headlights and LED tail lamps, side mirrors with LED turn signal indicators, and rear privacy glass. Past the base ES trim, consumers also get heated exterior mirrors, a hands-free power liftgate, and can opt-in for a power panoramic sunroof. For more style, the Black Edition is available on the SE and SEL trims, featuring all-new black semi-aniline premium leather-appointed seating surfaces, a black dynamic shield, black chrome window trim, and black roof rails for an all-blacked-out Outlander PHEV.

Inside the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, consumers can find an 8-way adjustable power driver seat with power lumbar support, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob past the base trim of the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Cloth upholstery is the standard, followed by synthetic leather on the SE trim, and real leather on the SEL trim. All trims come with a 12.3-inch full digital driver display.

Speaking of technology, the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV comes standard with an 8-inch smartphone-link display audio (SDA) system with six speakers for music, plus Bluetooth wireless technology, Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and steering wheel audio, phone, and voice recognition control. A 9-inch SDA with navigation and HD Radio are standard past the base. There is also an assortment of advanced safety features standard, including forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and blind spot warning with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alerts, driver attention alert, and rear parking sensors. Past the base, trims also come equipped with front parking sensors and MI-PILOT Assist.

For consumers who plan to get a lot out of their PHEV, all Mitsubishi vehicles are covered by a basic limited warranty for 5 years/60,000 miles, a powertrain limited warranty for 10 years/100,000 miles, 7 years or 100,000 miles of anti-corrosion coverage, and roadside assistance.
