There are a lot of options when you’re shopping for a sporty compact sedan. And some of them have been around for quite awhile.

Small cars like the Toyota Corolla S and Honda Civic EX have long had pretty solid footing in this arena because newcomers typically haven’t brought comparable performance and reliability to the table.

But that has changed thanks to Miami Kia dealers . While Toyota and Honda offer the same stale options year after year, Kia’s Forte EX is shaking things up. This little sedan is showing consumers that a daily commute doesn’t have to be boring.

How’s the Ride?

Though the Forte EX, Corolla S, and Civic EX all have 16-valve, inline-4 engines, the Forte’s is slightly larger. And boy does it make a difference.

The Forte gives a really lively response when you press on the pedal, offering 173 horsepower to play with. If you’re paying for a model with some get-up-and-go, isn’t that what you’d expect?

The Civic EX, which offers only 143 hp, and the Corolla S, which gives just 132 hp, simply fall flat when it comes to getting an entertaining ride.

The Forte EX gets up to speed much more quickly too. You can take it from 0-60 in 7.3 seconds versus the 9.5 seconds it takes the Corolla S to accomplish the same.

If you’re looking for something that’s more succulent instead of the same old rice and beans, the Forte is the clear choice.

What About Looks?

As for style, the Forte is light years ahead of the Corolla and Civic. They both wear pretty bland outfits that are typical for traditional sedans.

But Kia is always ahead of the curve when it comes to design, and the Forte didn’t miss out. With an edgy spindle grille, sharp LED lights, and sleek lines, it brings some modern pizazz to an otherwise blasé segment.

And the Inside?

No one will believe the price you paid when you take a look at the Forte EX’s interior. The cabin is refined and smoothly incorporates all sorts of conveniences.

Keyless entry, Bluetooth, heated seats, a navigation system with advanced voice recognition, and satellite radio all contribute to the upscale look and feel.

And when you hit the road, the Forte also has the quietest cabin out of the three sedans. You can sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

The Forte EX, Corolla S, and Honda Civic EX are all fairly close in price, though the Civic is slightly higher. So you have to ask yourself how you want to spend your hard earned money.

If you’re going to invest in a new vehicle, don’t you want it to be one that brings you pleasure? Don’t get in a rut with the same old sedan. Test drive a Forte EX and feel the difference.
