New Details About the Kia EV4 BEV Surface
The Kia Corp is steadfast with its plans to release two new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) models every year up until 2027. It’s certainly successful so far with the release of the Kia EV6, Kia EV9, and recently, the reveal of the Kia EV3. More are surely on the way with the Kia EV5 concept and the Kia EV8. Consumers may still be going gaga over the attractive EV3, but back when Kia held its first annual EV Day last October, the EV3 was also paired with another new BEV concept, the EV4. There hasn’t been much information on it, but that’s about to change.
When we first saw the concept during Kia’s EV Day event in Seoul, South Korea, one thing was for sure. The Kia EV4 shared a striking resemblance with the EV6 crossover, which is a little discovering. Not every new BEV has to be a crossover, SUV, or hatchback. So far, though, that’s what we’re getting. Despite the similarities, the EV4 looks like it could be a little shorter, which could lean more into the Kia GT-Line. There have been some rumors that Kia is going to bring back the Stinger nameplate as a BEV, but it’s unclear if the new Stinger will be the EV4 or EV8.
Nevertheless, the EV4 already had its own persona with a center of gravity that’s perfect for sharp turns and high-performance vehicles. Like the EV6, the front fascia of the EV4 comes with narrow, vertical LED headlights the new “tiger face” grille, and a swept-back roofline. All perfect features for a BEV and a performance-tuned sports car. Inside, the dashboard and center console have been simplified, another characteristic of Kia BEVs. That was all we really got back in October 2023, but now the EV4 has been spotted being tested overseas, and its distinct character lines and sleek silhouette are unmistakable.
It’s definitely got the performance feel to it with raised bars on both sides and an upgraded look. Like many Kia BEVs, there will be several trims with varying power outputs and an all-electric range (AER0. As far as we know so far, the Kia EV4 will come with a Standard model that offers an AER of 217 miles, and a Long Range model that can offer up to 311 miles. Most importantly is the price. The Kia Corp claimed that the EV4 is part of Kia’s new affordable electric vehicle lineup, with prices ranging between $30,000 and $50,000. That sounds about right – the starting MSRP for the 2024 EV6 is $42,600 (plus destination fee) and the starting MSRP for the Kia EV9 at $54,900 (plus destination fee).
So, what’s next? If we take a look at the Kia BEV lineup image above, then we still have one or two BEV models left to account for. There are a total of five up there, said to be the EV6, EV4, EV5, EV3, and EV9 from left to right. We’re still waiting on more news about the Kia EV5, another all-electric SUV, but for now, the EV4 is looking like a pretty sleek full-size BEV.
