Kia Telluride Named “Family Vehicle of the Year” by the Hispanic Motor Press
Ever since it was released, the Kia Telluride SUV has been winning awards and accolades every year. The first automobile to win the “Triple Crown” of automotive awards in 2020, the Telluride captured some of the industry’s most prestigious awards – the 2020 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year from North American Car of the Year (NACTOY); MotorTrend SUV of the Year; and landed on a Car and Driver 10 Best list. Continuing to turn heads and win hearts, the South Korean automaker finds fans in many kinds of people. A great recent example – the Hispanic Motor Press was quick to find the Telluride as the winner of the organization’s “Family Vehicle of the Year” award.
“It is an honor for the Telluride to be recognized by the Hispanic Motor Press for the second year in a row and this award speaks to the rugged capability, versatility and style of our flagship SUV…We are humbled that this distinguished group of journalists acknowledged Telluride yet again for offering the best of what today’s savvy Hispanic consumers are looking for.” – Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America
Around this time of year, the Hispanic Motor Press concludes its own evaluation of new vehicles, giving a voice to the Hispanic culture of Kia SUV fans. Every year, during the annual Hispanic Motor Press (HMP) Awards, a jury panel made up of independent Hispanic automotive journalists, content creators, and industry influencers from different countries are selected by the organization’s advisory board. A total of 20 juror members in total, the group was responsible for evaluating more than 100 new vehicles in 2023. The factors the jurors measured for each vehicle included its overall design, comfort, safety, economy, handling, performance, functionality, infotainment integration, interior design, environmental requirements, driver satisfaction, and price. Keeping the Hispanic audience’s preferences in mind was also a strong deciding factor for the winners this year.
The Kia Telluride is the largest SUV in the lineup, and it’s most likely the Kia EV9 all-electric SUV took some styling cues from the behemoth. Large and boxy, but silent, the EV9 is a great addition to the Kia lineup. The Telluride SUV is so popular with the Hispanic community, that 2023 marks the second consecutive year that the automaker has won an award during the HMPA, especially for the Telluride, named “SUV of the Year” by the Hispanic Motor Press in 2022. The award-winning three-row SUV struck again.
Hispanics make up 18 -percent of the population in the U.S. as of November, 2023. They buy a lot of new cars and place a focus on reliability, safety, and comfort for their families. The 2023 Kia Telluride displays such features with an upgrade to Kia Connect for the new infotainment system, and offers technological features such as Smart Speaker Integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. In recent years, Kia has added many advanced and automatic safety features to its model lineup. The 2023 Kia Telluride comes with an assortment of advanced safety features, such as Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Forward Collision Avoidance with Junction Turning (FCA-JT) Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with Curve, Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), Forward Collision Avoidance with Junction Crossing, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist-Rear (BCA-R), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and many more.
