Kia Donates $250K to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Helene Disaster Relief
A few years ago, Kia America started its “Accelerate the Good” program to share the love and help those in its community by doing more than offering great cars. Since the program started, Kia and its nationwide network of dealers have selected charities across the U.S. to donate a share of their earnings in an effort to help fund their endeavors and missions. Every year, they cap off the donations with a year-end donation event with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and throughout the year, Kia America helps where it can. Hurricane season got a lot stronger near the tail end of this year, and after the impact of Hurricane Helene, people are going to need support as Hurricane Milton upgrades to a Category 5 storm.
“Kia is committed to supporting our customers as well as the local communities, our friends and neighbors throughout the Southeast affected by Hurricane Helene, and we are grateful to have tremendous partners like the American Red Cross who are ready to quickly assist communities and provide a comforting hand in times of need…We hope the $500 payment assistance program will ease the burden our customers face as they move forward.” – SeungKyu (Sean) Yoon, President and CEO of Kia North America and Kia America
Aw, that’s nice. The payment assistance program goes toward the purchase or lease of select new Kia vehicles between October 4, 2024, and January 2, 2025. Along with the payment assistance program for consumers affected, Kia America has partnered with Kia Georgia, Inc., to donate $250,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with disaster relief efforts. The Category 4 Hurricane Helene made landfall on September 26 and really did a number on Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee. The American Red Cross will be making good use of the funds donated by Kia will aid those affected by providing vital resources such as food, water, shelter, and medicine.
Internally, Kia team members continue to raise funds through the American Red Cross, so we can assume their funding won’t stop at Helene. That’s good, because Hurricane Milton is coming in at a Category 5, making it very dangerous for anyone in its path. As we mentioned, this latest donation to the American Red Cross is a continuation of Kia’s “Accelerate the Good” charitable program. The automaker has provided more than $30 million to those in need since 2019 for both national and local initiatives. Over the years, Kia America has donated to the following organizations: American Red Cross, Covenant House, National Geographic Society, Operation Homefront, Petfinder Foundation, Share our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, and Toys for Tots.
