The new changes to the Inflation Reduction Act have pretty much put a bad taste in the mouth of the American consumer when it comes to purchasing a new battery-electric vehicle (BEV). The U.S. government doing something that hurts the population – who could’ve guessed that would happen? Before, when purchasing a new BEV, consumers could expect a $7500 tax credit. Apparently, money-grubbers and the IRS aren’t too fond of that, but there is a loophole. It’s called leasing versus buying, and the Kia Corp is leaning hard into that to aid consumers who opt to lease versus buy by offering discounts. The first model to benefit from this is none other than the Kia EV6.

Okay, so what is the Inflation Reduction Act? It’s a $750 billion effort to address inflation by reducing health care costs; bring down the federal deficit by bolstering tax collections; and combat climate change by encouraging domestic clean-energy production. Affordable healthcare in America? That’s a laugh. That part we put in bold is also one of the major problems. Can’t strengthen how much taxes are collected from the little guy when a $7500 federal tax credit is hanging about. To combat the loss of the tax credit, Kia is taking that $7,500 and allowing consumers who lease to use it upfront as a discount off BEV’s price tag.

When it comes to the award-winning EV6 crossover, Kia has found a variety of ways to make it more affordable. In February 2022, Kia partnered with Electrify America to provide a huge incentive to EV6 owners. Consumers who purchased a new Kia EV6 were eligible to benefit from 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh), free of charge, at any Electrify America station across the U.S. Taking into the EPA-rated 310-mile all-electric range (AER) of the Kia EV6, that’s 3,500 to 4,000 miles of all-electric driving at no cost. Now, that the Inflation Reduction Act is harming buyers versus lessees, Kia is turning the whole thing upside down to bite back.

“The Kia EV6 has been a homerun, and this is an opportunity we think will appeal to many customers anxious to experience the EV lifestyle…With multiple available motor and drivetrain layouts and an EPA-estimated all-electric range of more than 300 miles in some variants, the EV6 offers something for everyone, and these special offers make it easier for customers to get behind the wheel of this exciting vehicle.” – Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America

Between now (5-17-2023) and July 5, 2023, Kia America is offering a $7,500 EV lease signing bonus to eligible consumers who lease a new 2023 EV6*. Until July 5, 2023, consumers who qualify and are approved by Kia Finance can lease a 2023 EV6 Wind RWD for $499 a month for 36 months with a $4,999 down-payment. On the flip side, consumers who rather purchase a new EV6 can finance through Kia Finance America up to $3,750 in standard-rate finance bonus cash towards the purchase of a new 2023 Kia EV6. Basically, lease or buy, Kia America has your back.

Available in three trims – Wind, GT-Line, and GT – the Kia EV6 offers options and power. Although the leasing deal is only for the Wind with rear-wheel drive (RWD), consumers who choose to purchase a new 2023 Kia EV6 can get power and handling with electric all-wheel drive (e-AWD) and the more powerful 77.4 kWh battery option. This option has an output of 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque on the Wind e-AWD and GT-Line e-AWD. Consumers can go even further than that with the GT trim, able to generate 576 horsepower and 545 lb-ft of torque.

Looking to join Kia America in exposing this little loophole? It’s only eligible until July 5, 2023, so be sure to come to Miami Lakes Automall for a new 2023 Kia EV6 today.
