Miami Lakes Consumer Reports 2017 Top Picks

Consumer Reports recently released its “10 Top Picks of 2017: Best Cars of the Year” list, and we’re happy to see some of our vehicles made the list. The 2017 Kia Optima, Chevrolet Cruze, and Chevrolet Impala all earned great ratings, and they are all available at Miami Lakes Automall.

So, what makes a car worthy of the top 10 list? Consumer Reports judged vehicles in four categories (road test, reliability, owner satisfaction, and safety) and then factored all scores into one overall score.

Here’s how three of our cars matched up.

2017 Kia Optima – Midsize Sedan

Anyone who owns a Kia finds themselves satisfied with a reliable and fun car to drive (they were the highest ranking brand in Customer Satisfaction in the 2016 J.D. Power Study). Rocking an 86 on the road test, the Kia Optima is a great sedan. It is the perfect blend of family car and performance sedan that’s user-friendly and spacious.

Stylish and filled with value, it’s surprising to find features such as music streaming, Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto compatibility, and others one would expect to only find in a luxury vehicle. Powered by an available 2.0-liter turbo GDI engine with 37 mpg on the highway, and protected by several safety features such as autonomous emergency braking, advanced smart cruise control, a surround view monitor, and a forward-collision warning system, it’s no surprise the Kia Optima made the list.

Starting MSRP at $22,200.

2017 Chevrolet Cruze – Compact Car

For a smooth riding sedan that’s roomy and budget-friendly, the Chevrolet Cruze is a great choice. It received a 77 on the road test and was found to be very reliable. When powered by an available 153-horsepower 1.4-liter engine, the Cruze gets up to 40 mpg on the highway. The Cruze is also available with all of the latest tech features, like Chevrolet MyLink, a 7-inch color touchscreen, Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and built in 4G LTE Wi-Fi. The 2017 Chevrolet Cruze also has a number of advanced safety features available, such as lane keep assist, forward collision alert, rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and more.

Good news – an all-new Cruze Diesel was also recently introduced for the 2017 model-year. Now, Chevrolet offers the 2017 Chevy Cruze with a 1.6-liter turbo diesel engine that gets up to 52 mpg on the highway and generates 240 lb-ft of torque.

Starting MSRP for the gas version of the Cruze is $16,975

2017 Chevrolet Impala – Large Sedan

The Impala is the leading vehicle of its class. Inside, the Impala is roomy with supportive seats and intuitive controls once behind the wheel. With a road test score of 91 and more than fair owner satisfaction, the Impala is reminiscent of a pricier luxury sedan. Built with ample trunk space and powered by a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with stop/start technology standard, the 2017 Chevrolet Impala also comes with the same tech features as the Cruze, and multiple safety features like forward collision alert and side blind zone alert available. Additionally, the Impala earned a 5-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA.

Starting MSRP $27,500
