What to Expect from the 2024 Jeep Wrangler

Blue Jeep Wrangler SUV Red Rocks

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler is an impressive off-road machine that has evolved to handle all kinds of terrain. The off-road SUVs’ solid axles and rugged build make them perfect for driving on rocky landscapes. The recent mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model offers some subtle changes that are meaningful for various reasons. While the changes may not be immediately noticeable, the alterations are there to improve the overall performance of this legendary vehicle.

The latest model of the Wrangler features a modified grille design. The vertical dimension of the slots in the grille is shortened, with a thicker rim of body-color paint outlining the trademark seven-slot array. The reimagined grille may reduce airflow to the radiators, which are responsible for powering the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, the Rubicon 392’s 6.4-liter Hemi V-8, and a largely carryover 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6. However, to mitigate this issue, the ridges between the slots are more open, allowing more cooling air to enter. Overall, this modification should ensure that the Jeep Wrangler can continue to operate at peak performance levels.

Jeep has made some functional changes to the front grille to accommodate the installation of a new Warn winch. The functional enhancements are a first for the Wrangler and are not just a facelift. The lower profile of the grille fits a tailored winch, which would have otherwise protruded into the old grille’s airflow. Nonetheless, Jeep and Warn collaborated on small changes to meet the performance and environmental standards, including reforming the winch’s internal grease. Furthermore, the American automaker made alterations to the support structure of the front bumper. The new front bumper is a fully crash-tested, factory-installed 8000-pound Warn winch available to Wrangler enthusiasts, specifically those that purchase the steel-bumper-equipped Rubicon trim.

One of the most noticeable updates is the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system on every trim level. The screen is nicely integrated into the dash, which has been mildly restyled and now includes horizontally arrayed center air-conditioning vents beneath the screen. The passenger grab bar is also recontoured to blend in with the vents. It’s great that the Mondo screen is standard across the board, from the entry-level two-door Sport to the top-of-the-line Rubicon 392. While built-in navigation is available exclusively on the Sahara, wireless phone mirroring and app-based navigation are optional for all trims. Plus, the factory navigation system has other advantages, like built-in Badge of Honor trail guidance and implementation of the Trails Offroad trail-library application that operates from cached data in places where cellular service is absent.

The Jeep Wrangler Sahara trims and up include redesigned front seats with 12-way power adjustment. What’s impressive about these seats is that their controls operate and survive even underwater. The aquatic seats can be at full fording depth with the doors off. The slim covers that conceal the rollover structure also incorporate side-curtain rollover airbags. Although this change may not be as noticeable, it could be more significant. Interestingly, the slightly oblong shape of these airbags makes it easier to grab onto the rollover structure to hoist every kind of enthusiast aboard. So get ready, ladies and gents, the experience of a lifetime is right around the corner.
