For the 2022 Jeep Cherokee, the 4×4 automaker eliminated nine trims leaving the Base X, Latitude Lux, Trailhawk, and Limited. However, the Jeep isn’t done trimming the fat. The Trailhawk lives to amaze enthusiasts for another year, along with the new Altitude Lux 4×4. The Cherokee Altitude Lux trim resembles a more rugged variation of the Latitude Lux. The Trailhawk and Altitude Lux come standardly equipped with an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment screen and a new kit with a slew of safety features. The Cherokee’s new safety features include adaptive cruise control with stop and go, parallel and perpendicular park assist, and ParkSense front/rear assist with the rear stop. The 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 faithfully belonged to the Cherokee Trailhawk trim, but no more. Therefore, there are two four-cylinder engines and four-wheel drive choices available.

The Cherokee Altitude Lux 4×4 receives a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine eager to deliver 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. Standard equipment for Altitude Lux includes:

  • Black Nappa leather seats.
  • A Piano Black interior trimming.
  • A seven-inch thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal display (TFT).
  • A heated steering wheel.
  • Heated seats.

Furthermore, the Altitude Lux’s exterior features LED lighting, a Gloss Black Grille, Gloss Black accents and badging, and 17-inch Gloss Black wheels, while 18-inch wheels remain optional.

The Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk propels through the new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder generating 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. New standard features for the Trailhawk trim include:

  • Automatic high beams.
  • An auto-dimming rearview mirror.
  • A security alarm.
  • A universal garage door opener.

What remains unchanged for the 2023 model year is a nine-speed ZF transmission and its exterior colors. The Cherokee’s color palette includes Billet Silver, Bright White, Diamond Black Crystal, Granite Crystal, Hydro Blue, Slate Blue, Sting-Gray, and Velvet Red. The Black and Ski Gray interior option for the X and Limited model is no longer available so enthusiasts can choose between black cloth and black leather.

As the current 2022 Jeep Cherokee finishes rolling its last few models of the assembly line. Reports speculate that Jeep’s Belvidere, Illinois plant will roll out the remaining models, and before February (2023) begins, the assemblage facility will no longer erect the Cherokee. The big wigs of 4×4 capability boast of a new Cherokee that will become “bigger and better than ever,” totting “a lot of electrification,” with plans of potentially unveiling a Wagoneer luxury trim . Moreover, sources claim the originator of the SUV segment will move to an assembly plant in Mexico.
