That’s the wonderful thing about them, they can go anywhere and do just about anything, even save you from another winter getting stuck in the snow.
Wait, snow? In Miami? No, this is not likely your problem in Florida, but while winter does approach, it’s sometimes nice to remember places where snow does exist, just as long as it’s not in your driveway. This winter, while you’re looking for a * Jeep Wrangler Unlimited for sale in Miami , * do check out some of the special editions they have put out in recent years which remind us all to be grateful that these are not the climates we choose to live in. There’s a reason why warm weather, the sunshine, and Jeeps go so well together.
Jeep’s Newest Edition: 2016 Jeep Backcountry
If you’re thinking that maybe this is the winter you take your family and/or loved ones up north for the holidays to experience magical snowfalls, cuddling under warm blankets while sipping hot chocolate and warm cider there’s one vehicle you should be sure to rent: Jeep’s brand new winter edition, Backcountry.
The Wrangler Backcountry is made for snow lovers, and while that may not be you, yet , it will be after this trip. Based on the Sahara trim, (isn’t that cute?) the Backcountry has a unique off-road front and rear powder coated bumper and sits on 17-inch Rubicon wheels. With five colors to choose from, Hydro Blue, Black, Bright White, Granite Crystal and Xtreme Purple, you’re sure to stand out no matter the sleepy ski villa you make your Holiday getaway.
Should off-roading not be your speed and you prefer something a bit more luxurious and cozy, the Backcountry also comes in a Grand Cherokee. This Backcountry Grand Cherokee SRT Night makes a statement with glossy black accents on the roof, rear spoiler, front grille bezels, B and C pillars as well as the side window surrounds. The 20-inch split five-spoke wheels are finished in more black, but this time it’s a satin finish. The interior is done in black Laguna leather with silver accents which contrast to the exterior color pallet: Velvet Red, Billet Silver, and Granite Crystal.
If driving in the snow seems a bit daunting for you, no worries. The SRT Night is powered by a 6.4L V8 engine that delivers 475 horsepower which is more than enough power to solidly get you safely through any snow covered streets, storm or wintry mix…yes, they have those in the great white north and it has nothing to do with your holiday song selection.
_ The 2016 Backcountry will be available for your 2015 holiday vacation and ready for pickup by the end of November. _
2014 Wrangler Polar Edition
Only two short years ago Jeep decided it needed to keep the chilly nights alive in our driveway. Once again based off the Sahara trim package only furthering its appreciation for irony, Jeep has a wonderful sense of humor.
Available in two and four-door configurations, it’s most unique features are the badges which showcase its latitude and longitude location namesake. That is to say that if you were to map the location of the given latitude and longitude, it would bring you to the place where the most severe temperature was ever recorded on Earth: Antarctica. Jeep chose this specifically to serve as a reminder that their vehicles are meant to go everywhere on this planet, even the in the most severe temperatures.
The 2014 Polar Edition is complimented with a whole host of mechanical components that help it maintain control in severe climates and icy conditions. Coming standard is a Trac-Lok anti-spin rear differential that can be combined with available electronic locker inside the Dana 44 axle. Up front, a Dana 30 is turned by the part-time Command-trac NV241, two-speed transfer case with a 2.72-to-1 low range. Automatic climate control, heated front seats, always appreciated in the freezing climates, and Electronic Vehicle Information Center are all included and smart for winter driving. Same drivetrain as other Wrangler’s, 3.6L Pentastar V6 with 285 horsepower and 260 lb/ft of torque. Drivers can choose a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.
2012 Arctic Edition
In 2012, when Jeep was having a hay day with special editions, they were mostly celebrating warm climates like the Mojave or Islander. However, that same year Jeep introduced another edition, one for the snow bunnies and snowmen in us all: the Arctic Edition. In a simple twist of Jeep fate, the Arctic is based on the Wrangler Sahara, meaning it shares the same body frame, and aside from being special editions, the comparisons end there.
Looks wise, the Arctic is available in two or four-door configurations and sits on 17-inch wheels wrapped in the Rubicon’s hunky 32-inch tires. Adorning the body are “Arctic” fender badges, a body-colored roof and fender flares, black fuel door, tail light guards, hood strip and special “yeti footprint” decals on the fender and hood. While the exterior body comes available in three colors, Bright Silver, Bright White and Winter Chill, the various blacked out elements on the exterior offer a stark contrast.
Ready for the cold weather, I mean, Arctic weather, because Arctic doesn’t just mean cold, it means freeeeeezing, is the interior which is suited for the toughest temperatures. Heavy duty heated black cloth seats outlined in orange stitching and piping matches the warm leather steering wheel. Arctic logos can be found on the front seat backrests and slush-ready floor mats.
Powering this beast through the wintery snow-laden streets, trails and mountain tracks is the Pentastar V6 engine that is backed by a 6-speed manual transmission. An optional 5-speed automatic is available, as well.
The 2012 Arctic Edition was also made available in the Jeep Liberty Sport 4×4. Featuring a color scheme similar to the Wranglers, a fourth exterior color was made available for the Liberty: Mineral Gray. Along with the Wrangler, the Liberty received the same fender badges while the hood decal is unique and misses the opportunity to celebrate any snowy mythical beasts. A few more appointments are added to the interior of the Liberty which the Wrangler missed out on, heated and power-adjustable seats with vinyl bolsters, nine-speaker Infinity audio system with a touchscreen. Also, the price on the Arctic Liberty is a bit lower than the Wrangler and Unlimited. However, the Liberty doesn’t get the Pentastar. Nothing to complain about, a 3.7L V6 powers 210 horses which isn’t shabby, but won’t power through snowbanks with the same amount of force.
Whether you do or don’t decide to make this the year your family skis for the first time or builds a snowman, know that whatever edition Jeep Wrangler you choose has your season covered. Be it highway and the sunshine or endless beaches, Jeep proves they can hang in any climate or condition you put them in. There is no other vehicle on the road that can safely deliver you through the best and worst weather conditions. Jeep Wranglers Unlimited guarantee composure and excitement, but most importantly safety on the roads this winter, wherever you may be.
