Introducing the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition
Jeep ® just unveiled their first special-edition model of the redesigned 2018 Wrangler – the Moab Edition. This limited-edition Wrangler is based on the Sahara trim and offers substantial and exclusive improvements throughout the vehicle.
With a hood borrowed from the Wrangler Rubicon, the Moab Edition adds a large Moab decal on the side of the hood, along with steel front and rear bumpers with removable end caps, and LED headlights and taillights. Low-gloss black paint on the headlight surrounds, grille openings, tow hooks, and 17-inch Rubicon wheels make for a menacing and rugged Wrangler look. The Wrangler Moab comes standard with a body-colored hardtop, with the dual color hardtop and the Sky One-Touch Power Top both available as an optional upgrade.
It’s no surprise that the Wrangler Moab is sprinkled with rugged upgrades, after all, its name alone pays homage to Moab, Utah – the host city of Jeep’s annual Easter Jeep Safari event. A set of 32-inch mud-terrain tires will have drivers ready to take off on the trail at any minute, while a full-time two-speed transfer case and a limited-slip rear differential will bring the right amount of power and control for off-roading. Borrowing from the Rubicon once again, a set of rock rails protect the Wrangler Moab’s rocker panels in case things get _ rocky _ when off-roading. If a potential buyer doesn’t feel that they’ll need the rock rails they can choose to swap them out for the side steps from the Sahara at no extra cost.
The rugged exterior shouldn’t fool consumers into thinking that this Wrangler has no luxury. Nothing could be further from the truth as the Wrangler Moab has leather-trimmed seats and a leather-wrapped dashboard with contrast stitching. An 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system comes standard with navigation, while audiophiles will be happy to enjoy the nine-speaker Alpine premium sound system as well. Jeep knows the importance of maintaining a tidy interior despite the Wrangler Moab being made for adventure and they throw in all-weather slush mats to keep the vehicle relatively clean. Adding to the comfort level is an available Cold Weather Package, complete with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a remote start system that will make the Wrangler Moab nice and toasty on cold days.
The latest safety technology like blind spot monitoring, rearview camera, park assist with automatic reverse braking, and rear cross-path detection all come as standard equipment on this limited-edition Wrangler. For an additional cost, consumers can add a trailer towing package and a cargo management system. According to a leaked order guide from AutoBlog, this edition is only available in the four-door Unlimited Wrangler, with a starting MSRP of $52,695 (including the destination fee)* and is already rolling out to dealers.
Potential buyers may want to initially make a run for it when seeing that price point, but the standard features included in the Wrangler Moab would typically add up to $8,000 in optional upgrades on the Sahara – the trim this limited-edition Wrangler is based on. In the case of the Wrangler Moab, it is undeniable that Jeep did an excellent job combining toughness and comfort to craft a one-of-a-kind vehicle.
