2020 Jeep Renegade Named a Top Safety Pick

December 13th, 2019 by

The 2020 Jeep Renegade is making waves as the only subcompact crossover with a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Specific features, such as LED projector headlamps with optional high-beam control tech, Forward Collision Warning-Plus, and Automatic Emergency Braking, are part of what helped the 2020 Renegade earn the IIHS distinction. Buyers should note that only Jeep Renegade vehicles manufactured after September of 2019 are qualified Top Safety Pick recipients.

The optional advanced safety features referred to earlier are part of the more than 70 standard and available security and safety features that Jeep offers on its 2020 Renegade models. The 2020 Renegade is the first in its segment to offer buyers features such as Forward Collision Warning-Plus and LaneSense Departure warning-Plus. Automotive experts usually refer to the Renegade model as small, but mighty.

“The Jeep stable of SUVs continues to be recognized for superior on- and off-road performance and the addition of many available advanced technology, safety and security features,” said Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA North America. “With more than 70 advanced safety and security features paired with benchmark 4×4 systems, Jeep Renegade provides drivers with the confidence to handle any adventure, in any weather condition.”

Impressively enough, the IIHS rated the Renegade’s optional Forward Collision Warning-Plus feature as “superior” — the highest possible rating when it comes to crash prevention features. The Forward Collision Warning-Plus system warns the driver to take action to avoid a collision via a charm. If the driver fails to react accordingly and brake on time, the system will automatically activate the brakes to help avoid a collision.

The Renegade also has available LED projector headlamps with automatic high-beam control, further enhancing the vehicle’s safety measures. Automatic high-beam control does exactly what it sounds like, the feature automatically switches headlamp modes between high- and low-beam function depending on traffic conditions and without the driver’s input. When put to the test, the Renegade also earned “good” results — the highest possible rating — in five other crashworthiness tests.

The 2020 Renegade serves as the iconic brand’s entry-level option complete with the brand’s notoriously bold and rugged styling. On the inside the 2020 Renegade offers buyers plenty of storage solutions and the latest technologies like Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto. The latest (and greatest) Uconnect infotainment system is also standard, keeping occupants connected and entertained — just the way it should be! Powertrain options range from a standard 1.3-liter Four-Cylinder with a fuel efficiency of 32 highway mpg and a more potent and optional 2.4-liter Tigershark engine with 29 highway mpg.
