Exploring the Punisher-Themed Dodge Challenger
We come across some interesting vehicle modifications every day, but one recent Dodge Challenger caught our eye. As a pretty big basketball, comic book, and automotive fan, I certainly geeked out when I first laid eyes on this specific car. Sure, comics, sports, and cars don’t necessarily mix, but you’ll get a better idea of what I’m talking about as your read on.

San Antonio Spurs legend (and multiple-time NBA champion) Tim Duncan is raffling off a modified 2012 Dodge Challenger via his BlackJack Speed Shop. The focus of the vehicle? It’s ‘Punisher-themed,’ with the vehicle being inspired by the iconic Marvel antihero (played by Thomas Jane in the 2004 movie). This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the vehicle, as it gained some recognition after being featured on the cover of Punisher Issue #25 last year. The illustration features Tim Duncan handing the character the keys to the full-size pony car.
The actual vehicle contains some exclusive amenities, but the best feature may be found on the dashboard. There, you’ll find Tim Duncan, Stan Lee (the creator of Marvel comics), and Mike Choi’s (the artist who designed the cover featuring Duncan) signatures, just adding further value to the car!
“I felt weird signing it,” Choi told Dan McCarney of MySanAntonio.com . “I signed it, ‘To TD…’ He’s such a down-to-earth, cool guy. I’ve always been a big fan but I’m an even bigger one after watching him interact with everyone out here today. He gets a lot of art; I get it. (But) he liked my piece.
“The car is amazing. When I drew it, I didn’t have a lot of detail. The guys at BlackJack made it look amazing. I’m so impressed.”
So, how much do the autographs increase the vehicle’s value? Well, there’s no concrete price for the vehicle, with Jason Peña, Duncan’s business partner, telling Madalyn Mendoza of MySanAntonio.com that the car is “priceless.” He also noted that “you can’t get another vehicle like this anywhere,” and based on what we know about the car, we’d agree with that sentiment.
Pena also told Mendoza that the vehicle was actually donated by Gunn Automotive Group, a restoring crew that had been adding additional customizations to the vehicle.
“It has grill guards, crash bumper, Gatling guns (fake ones, of course), rockers on the side and a custom black matte wrap,” Peña said. Win this car, and we guarantee you’ll be intimidating your fellow drivers.
To win the car, you’ll have to purchase a $40 raffle ticket from either of BlackJack Speed Shop’s two locations in San Antonio and Schertz. The winner will be selected on December 12th. The proceeds from the contest will go towards ChildSafe, a Children’s Advocacy Center that is “dedicated to helping children who have been abused, either sexually or physically, or neglected.”
