A Great South Florida Neighborhood: Coconut Grove
Our customers come from all over South Florida for a new car or to get their car serviced at our service department, so we get to hear about all of the cool little neighborhoods scattered throughout the city and Coconut Grove is one that has been coming up quite a bit lately. Have you heard about it? It’s a pretty cool neighborhood located about 40 minutes from Miami Lakes. We checked it out for ourselves and this is what we learned.
Coconut Grove is a pretty, cute neighborhood located south of downtown Miami. Even though it isn’t a far drive from the busy downtown area, it has a completely different vibe. Coconut Grove is a laid back community that has a lot of art and community events. The neighborhood has been thriving for more than a hundred years and it seems to get better as it ages. Whether you are looking for a new place to go for a night out, a neighborhood to live in, or a weekend getaway, Coconut Grove has a lot to offer.
Food
Coconut Grove has a variety of dining styles from fun and casual to fine dining. In the mood for a relaxing place to grab a bite and have a couple of drinks? Check out Barracuda Taphouse, El Taquito. If you’re a college student attending nearby University of Miami, you might want to just skip the food and go to Fat Tuesdays for a frozen alcoholic drink available in any flavor you could imagine.

Sightseeing and Attractions
Midori Gallery: Visit the Midori Art Gallery in Coconut grove to experience oriental art. Enjoy a new culture, purchase a asian antique, and explore two floors of paintings and antiques. The gallery contains pieces from 3500 BC all the way into the 1920s.
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens: Viscaya Museum and Gardens was originally owned by businessman James Deering, of the Deering McCormick-International Harvester fortune in the early 20th century. Visit all 50 acres of the Viscaya Gardens, it is open to the public everyday but Tuesday’s. The land consists of Italian gardens, native woodlands, and old villas.
Coco Walk: CocoWalk is the local hub offering food, shops and a museum within a close distance. The museum exhibit is dedicated to the history of Pan American World Airways Aviation and features an extensive collection of Pan Am memorabilia.
Events
Coconut Grove is big about community, so there are a lot of free and local activities that take place each month.
Weekly Yoga: Enjoy free outdoor Yoga Classes any Tuesday or Thursday at Peacock Park from 6-7 p.m. Take in the beautiful scenery of Coconut Grove while working out and meeting new people. This is a great activity for people who live near the area, or those who want to work out while on vacation and visiting.
Walking tours: These tours begin in Peacock Park and end in Cefalos in the grove. There are eleven fantastic stops along the way. These stops include: shopping, food, history, and parks. One of the best stops along the way is Barnacle State Park. This park is home to one of Miami’s oldest houses. See all the highlights in Coconut Grove in just one day.
Lighting festival: The lighting festival is a great holiday event in Coconut Grove. The event includes holiday art, music, and a bounce house for the kids. Don’t forget to bring unwrapped toys to put under the tree, they will go to a toy drive for children. Enjoy one of Miami’s best annual holiday celebrations.
