The Jeep Wagoneer first launched in 1962, but its production came to an end by 1991, eclipsed by the rising popularity of minivans at the time. Without the creation of the Wagoneer, many luxury SUVs of today would not exist. SUVs like the Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, and Porsche Cayenne would be mere blueprints. Just thinking of a Ferrari or Lamborghini SUV would’ve been a laughable matter in 1991.

Two decades later, many brands offer the top-tier luxury SUV of the moment. Jeep is ready for a comeback with the new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Jeep Wagoneer for the 2022 model year. As technology continues to evolve, so does innovation. The Wagoneer is looking to appeal to a new consumer. Here are five things to anticipate with the new 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer.

  1. Let’s Talk Engine and Models

When 2022 rolls around, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will make their grand debut on the same platform as the Ram 1500 pickup, the Wagoneers will also incorporate a rear suspension for a tranquil ride for the people in the back. In addition, both vehicles will accommodate a V8 engine.

The Wagoneer will receive a 5.7-liter V8 with 392 horsepower. A 6.4-liter and 471 horsepower power the Grand Wagoneer. With the V8 engines, the powerful SUV catapults to 60 mph in only six seconds.

Where the two Wagoneers differentiate is on the inside. The Wagoneer’sWagoneer’s interior teeter-totters on luxury while the Grand Wagoneer pushes into opulent territory.

  1. The Inside that Counts

Emphasis on luxury here, but many customers were saddened to find no option to include the infamous faux wood trim from the previous Wagoner. Anticipation builds as Jeep may have a change of heart for the Wagoneer as the faux wood meshes into the interior of the Grand Wagoneer. The burnished walnut provides a look that integrates the seats to the door and heightens the look and feel of being inside a warm chestnut. Just open the doors, and seven interior screens will span the dashboard and the rear seats.

  1. Wagoneer Destinations

Three variations of the 4×4 system are available, and they can traverse through 24 inches of water. The Jeep Quadra-Lift air suspension adds inches in height to the Grand Wagoneer’sWagoneer’s 8-inch ride height. The approach angle is 25 degrees, 24 departure, and 22 breakover.

The Wagoneer can’t receive a trail-rated badge because it’s too big. 214.7″ long by 83.6″ wide, the Wagoneer’sWagoneer’s tire print obscures the Yukon and the Navigator’sNavigator’s. In addition, the Wagoneer provides a towing capacity of 10,000-pounds. Who said heavy lifting couldn’t be luxurious.

  1. Movie Theatre On Wheels

The Wagoneers will both feature the Amazon Fire TV for Auto. Passengers will be allowed to stream content from several interior screens. McIntosh provides quality, equipping the Wagoneer with 23 speakers and a 1375-watt amplifier controlled with Jeep’s Uconnect system. Once Wagoneer consumers find themselves at home, they can walk inside and continue exactly where they left off.

  1. Where’s the Jeep?

Look anywhere, and the Jeep logo won’t be there. Look at the steering column, doors, tailgate, even the grille; you won’t see Jeep anywhere. Jeep’s ambitious when it pertains to familiarity, with its picket-fence and grille as settle reminders. Jeep will begin with the production of both Wagoneer’s and work to expand into the Wagoneer sub-brand.

What the future holds for Wagoneers has not been confirmed. No official announcements were declared, but speculation builds on the potential of a larger model and a plug-in hybrid.
