Is Chrysler Aiming For An Electric Future?
Chrysler is preparing to enter the world of EVs recently confirming that an all-electric crossover was in the works. While all the details are still under wraps, we do know that this crossover will be the automaker’s first EV. Chrysler offers a hybrid Pacifica, but it will be interesting to see how it handles its first all-electric model. Chrysler CEO Chris Feuell recently touted the idea of an all-electric sedan at the 2023 Reuters’ Automotive USA Summit, so the possibility of an EV sedan is also likely. This electric sedan would replace the discontinued Chrysler 300, so it would have to be an exciting new model. With so many rumors amidst, we’ll dive in further and see what we know about Chrysler’s electric future.Â
Chrysler Eyes New EV CrossoverÂ
Chrysler is targeting an EV with its upcoming model. CEO Chris Feull recently spoke at the 2023 Reuters’ Automotive USA Summit hinting at an all-electric sedan that would carry on the automaker’s passenger car legacy. Rumors spread that an all-electric sedan was coming and many speculated that it may resemble the Airflow concept showcased several years ago. This concept sedan aimed to bring a new innovative EV to the industry that would transform the user experience. The concept promised an innovative design along with advanced technology. Chrysler has stated that it plans to shift its focus toward an all-electric lineup by 2028 so this line of thinking is promising. We now know an all-electric crossover is in the works and that it will be the flagship EV for the automaker.
Chrysler has laid a solid foundation for its first EV. The automaker showcased new technology like an advanced infotainment system and level 3 assisted driving in its Airflow concept so it’s likely that they will be offered with the new crossover EV. Chrysler will make use of Stellantis’ large EV platform; it will also use new software platforms like STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit, and STLA AutoDrive. These platforms will enable advanced automated driving which could completely transform how consumers drive and operate their vehicles.Â
With its new platforms, Chrysler would use advanced AI to offer consumers an entirely new user experience. Features would include the aforementioned level 3 driving as well as an AI assistant. Thanks to over-the-air updates, owners would be able to see their vehicles grow with them adapting to their personal preferences and lifestyles. Owners will ideally plan routes, sync their daily calendars, and even connect with home-smart technology as part of an all-encompassing user experience. While this all sounds bold and daring, if Chrysler can pull off this new immersive experience it will completely redefine its brand and image. We’ll have to wait for more information, but thus far it seems Chrysler is aiming to redefine its identity and transform the user experience with an all-electric future.Â
