Chrysler may have an all-new SUV in the works. Rumors circulating indicate that the Stellantis subsidiary may introduce a new SUV next year. While there has not been much news lately, the automaker has clearly outlined its vision for its future lineup. Thanks to its all-new advanced platforms built for EVs, Chrysler expects to release 8 new vehicles in the next few years. The first electric vehicle was expected to be Chrysler’s AirFlow concept which debuted as a crossover SUV. With new rumors spreading, however, consumers should expect some form of an SUV. It’s unclear if it will be a hybrid or fully electric but it’s likely it will ride on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform. We’ll dive deeper and take a look at what we know as well as what consumers can expect.

All-New Chrysler SUV May Arrive Next Year

Chrysler recently provided details about several of its new global platforms. These include STLA Large, STLA Medium, STLA Small, and STLA Frame. These platforms are dedicated to the automaker’s future EV lineup. Initially, Chrysler planned to develop battery-electric vehicles however the automaker will also utilize them for hybrid vehicles. STLA Large will be used for full-size cars and SUVs while Medium will be for vehicles with an estimated battery range of 435 miles. STLA Small will serve as the foundation for compact sedans and Frame will be used for trucks and SUVs. The latest rumors hint that STLA Large will be the first platform we see.

Although rumors have circulated, there are no clear details as to what type of SUV Chrysler could be introducing. It’s very likely it will make use of the STLA Large frame making it near in size to the Jeep Wagoneer. Chrysler CEO Christine Feuell spoke on an all-electric sedan that would replace the outgoing Chrysler 300C. An all-electric Halcyon concept was also introduced. While we know new vehicles are on the way, we will have to wait for the automaker to confirm them.

Aside from its new platforms, we know that Chrysler has also developed new software to match. These include STLA Brain, STLA Cockpit, and STLA AutoDrive. These advanced platforms are intended to provide drivers with features like cloud connectivity and autonomous driving capabilities. They will also introduce intuitive screen displays that could transform how owners drive and use their vehicles. Autonomous driving has been a hot topic lately with many automakers racing to offer the most definitive product. Chrysler plans to incorporate level 3 driving along with an AI assistant. Over-the-air updates would also allow owners to see their vehicles grow with them as it adapts to their preferences and lifestyle. This may be in the near future but for now, we’ll be staying tuned for more information.
