The Chevrolet company is preparing to revamp their Tahoe and Suburban SUVs for their 2022 model, but don’t worry, they aren’t throwing out the baby with the bath water. Instead, the automaker is simply making their formula more agreeable to a larger crowd, and they’re doing this by making their 6.2-L V8 engine more available. While this motor was previously reserved as the standard engine on the top-ranking High Country trim, and not even an option on the others, it’s now being unlocked on the RST, Z71, and Premier levels. Now more buyers will get to enjoy a thrilling ride with the powertrains output of 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Last month (September 10th), we discussed that this engine might require additional options, with the exclusion of the Premier. The Premier model with the V8 motor has a standalone option. At the same time, RST buyers will need to get the Sport Performance Package, while buyers of the Z71 will have to get either the Z71 Off-Road Package or mixture of packages such as Off-Road Performance, Off-Road Capability, Max Trailering, and Luxury.

On the Z71 trim, the new electronic limited-slip differential is included in the Off-Road Performance Package, which results in better responsiveness from the rear wheels while driving when the roads are slippery. Those who opt for this package also means that they’ll get the Max Trailering and Luxury Packages too.

The availability of other two engine options in the lineup don’t change, specifically the 5.3-liter V8 with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft, and the 3.0-liter diesel with 277 hp and 460 lb-ft.

Inhouse, beginning with the LT model and up, the gauge cluster expands to a fully digital 12-3 inch display with four preset configurations. Google Automotive has been implemented into the vehicle systems for better integration of particular apps and services. This involves voice commands, which means without plugging in his or her phone, passengers can use Google Assistnt’s voice control to make changes, such as with the stereo volume, the radio stations, or the climate control.
