New Chevy Colorado ZR2 is an Off-roading Beast for Less Money

If you are a truck lover, chances are you are an adventure seeking, outdoor enthusiast. Unfortunately, sometimes finding that perfect off-road beast to fill your adventure needs can be a struggle, as they are very expensive. For example the Ford Raptor with standard features starts at roughly $48,860. Well, Chevy has a solution for consumers — the new Colorado ZR2.

The new 2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2 comes fully-loaded with all the features drivers need for off-roading. Priced at $40,995, the Colorado ZR2 is more than $7,000 less than the Ford Raptor and it is just as capable. So, hold out to buy your next off-roading truck until this the Colorado ZR2 is released this spring — it will be worth the wait.

The Colorado ZR2 is equipped with DSSV dampers that provide a two-inch lift. The truck has unique front control arms and its modified rear axle has a 3.42:1 crawling ratio. The truck rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 31-inch off-roading tires, and in case of tire or wheel damage, there is a spare tire mounted to the truck bed.

To ensure the truck can handle all types of obstacles, it is armored with an Autotrac transfer case, a transfer case shield and an aluminum skidplate to protect the oil pan and radiator. In comparison to the standard Colorado, the Colorado ZR2 also has a 3.5-inch wider track allow for even more capability and safety. Additionally, the Colorado ZR2 has a unique aggressive-looking hood and grille design.

The standard engine is Chevy’s 3.6-liter V6 engine, which provides the perfect amount of power to trek through any obstacle off-road. However, buyers that want a little extra spunk can upgrade to the Duramax inline-four turbo diesel engine, which amps horsepower and torque production.
