Chevrolet has set its sights on improving their prized Corvette. Reports have shown they are expected to add a V8 motor and dual-clutch automatic as the newest generation Corvette will begin, listed as the “C8”, the 8th generation Corvette. The C8 is expected to be a massive upgrade over the previous C7 generation. The new Chevrolet Corvette will debut on July 19th, 2019 in Orange County, California. Not only will this latest Corvette be all-new, but we’ve also learned it will receive Chevy’s first mid-engine ever. The first all-new Corvette since the C7 debuted over five years ago, Chevy has nearly 67 years of experience crafting their premiere car.

What Makes the Corvette Special?

Since 1953, the Chevrolet Corvette has built a reputation as one of the most outstanding cars on the road. Built with state-of-the-art technology to push the envelope even further, expect greater horsepower to rival brands like Dodge and Ford. More recently, the Corvette has won the “Automobile of the Year” by Automobile Magazine and earned a back-to-back “10Best List” recognition from Car and Driver in 2018 and 2019. Rumors have swirled about the latest Corvette pushing the limit of supercar power with a ludicrous 1,000 horsepower! Chevrolet has revealed the all-new Corvette will keep the Stingray moniker used for the base entry trim.

“The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette will debut as a Stingray July 18, 2019. Did you know the second-generation Corvette debuted as a Sting Ray in 1963? This nameplate ran until 1976 and was then revived in 2014 to introduce the seventh-generation Corvette. Chevrolet is proud to announce the Stingray name will live on.” -Statement from Chevrolet

Recent Details On Forthcoming Corvette

Spy photos have caught the to-be-officially-named C8 Corvette racing around on testing tracks in Nurburgring, Germany. In fact, just ahead of the official release there has been word coming out that the testing vehicles have been pushed harder than ever before, perhaps trying to hit the extreme limits of this incredible vehicle. This Chevrolet Corvette is going to have a possible 10-speed automatic transmission, but there will be no manual transmission.
