After debuting a one-of-a-kind 1,000-hp Camaro Convertible, Specialty Vehicle Engineering has turned its concentration to the Chevrolet Colorado. Back in the 1990s and 2000s, the Chevy Colorado Xtreme pickup truck was made from a mix between the Blazer Xtreme and popular S-10 pickup was an example of style, more so than power. However, recent work on the beloved Chevrolet truck has taken things to a whole new level. In many ways, the “new 2020” Chevrolet Colorado Xtreme, is a modern-day tribute to the popular Chevrolet S-10 Xtreme sports truck from the 1990s. The makers at Specialty Vehicle Engineering have put their hearts and hands into action to create a much stronger entry in the pickup game. However, only 100 of these bad boys will be made. Options For Owners
Available for crew cab or extended-cab models, the Colorado Xtreme is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine that pushes up the horsepower from 190 horsepower found in the old Xtreme to a new 455 horsepower and 425 ft-lb of torque. The previous Xtreme only came with 250 lb-ft of torque stock. Today’s Xtreme uses SVE’s in-house developed centrifugal supercharger with a unique head unit that contains a restless drive assembly as opposed to a conventional gear drive assembly that can give owners up to 90,000 rpm with no supercharger whine.
Xtreme Drivability
This pickup was built to resist power lag, offer quiet drivability and a straight power band that improves power to as much as 6,400 rpm. The unique SVE’s air-to-water intercooler system also lowers heat soak to sustain optimal power whenever the truck is running. SVE sought out upgrades that include a composite Xtreme engine cover, body-color painted fog lamp surrounds with body-color painted grille and black bowtie emblem, a custom dual exhaust, and reworked suspension lowers the Colorado Xtreme by two inches at the front and five inches at the rear.
The 2020 Chevrolet Colorado Xtreme rides on 20-inch five-spoke wheels available in satin black or gloss black wrapped in Michelin 275/45R20 Pilot Sport PS2S performance tires. Classy!
Sweet Interior Features
Inside, the front headrests feature stitched red Xtreme logos and there are also premium floor mats in black or cocoa dune with the Xtreme logo. Optional upgrades include a heavy-duty sway bar, heavy-duty traction bars and bushings, a folding black tonneau cover, and a custom seat trim package for the front and rear seats that complement the two factory interior colors.
Exclusively limited to just 100 total finalized models, the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado Extreme will be a rarity when built. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado with the 3.6-liter V6 begins at $27,380 MSRP (Plus destination fee) with the extended cab and $29,280 MSRP (Plus destination fee) for the crew cab.
