Vette fans everywhere will be thrilled to find that Chevrolet has done it again. With a multitude of serious enhancements, they have strengthened the Corvette’s performance and taken it to a new level.

Some might even find is surprising that this model is street legal. How are drivers going to contain themselves once they’re behind the wheel?

A roaring, supercharged V8 with 650 horsepower would probably make it pretty challenging to keep your cool.

The 2015 Z06 hasn’t arrived at Chevrolet dealerships just yet, but it is definitely going to mark its place in Corvette history.

It’s Based on a Race Car

Where would Chevy get inspiration for such an intense version of the Corvette? Why from the track of course.

The Z06 is based directly on the C7.R which is Chevy’s current grand tourer racing car. And you’d be surprised how much the two have in common.

From their carbon-fiber roofs and hoods to their adjustable rear spoiler wickerballs, these are two peas in a pod. Never before has a Corvette shared so many components with a race-ready cousin.

Your Choice of Transmission

Okay diehards, you may want to stop reading right now if you’re an absolute purist. There has been much heated debate about this topic already, but the facts are the facts.

Though many Vette fans have opposed the available automatic transmission , the verdict is that the 8-speed with paddle shifters helps to make this the most capable Corvette to date.

Experts who have already been lucky enough to stretch the Z06’s legs have confirmed that both speed and performance are significantly enhanced by the automatic option.

It’s super responsive and there’s no lag between gears. It also makes the best use of the torque band because the space between gears is greatly reduced.

However, if you just can’t bear it, Chevy is still offering the 7-speed manual for all you traditionalists.

You Can Tape the Whole Thing

After your Z06 is safely nestled in the garage, you can relive your day at the track thanks to the Corvette’s Performance Data Recorder.

As you do your laps, the recorder tapes everything with telemetry overlay. The Z06 can accelerate from 0 to 60 in under three seconds. Don’t let the experience fly by.

With the Performance Data Recorder, you can revisit every moment, hone your skills, and get your heart pumping fast whenever you want.
