Good news for fans of the Chevy Blazer. It’s back, and this time, a sporty crossover rendition of the vehicle will be making its debut. The Chevy Blazer has been out of production since 2005, but we’ve got some of the leaked information about the new Chevy Blazer here.
What Does This New Blazer Offer?
The next Blazer will be far different from the last time we saw the Chevrolet off-road vehicle, more than a decade ago. The original Blazer was introduced by Chevy in 1969 and competed with it’s then rival, the Ford Bronco. Since then, there have been some impressive changes to the vehicle, such as putting the nameplate on a new crossover instead of its previously known full-size Blazer body-type. Instead of honing in on the SUV look though, the new Chevy Blazer has a sleek design both inside and out that will bolster the Chevy crossover lineup.
“Chevrolet has been at the forefront of each of the major automotive industry trends by anticipating consumer demand and delivering innovative products like Bolt EV, Colorado, and Trax…The introduction of the all-new Blazer builds on that momentum and further strengthens the most comprehensive lineup of crossovers and SUVs on the market today.” – said Alan Batey, president of GM North America and head of Global Chevrolet.
More Blazer Features
Built with a 2.5-Liter four-cylinder engine or an optional 3.6-Liter V6 engine, each Blazer will be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5-Liter engine will provide drivers with up to 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. The optional 3.6-Liter V6 will provide 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Seems like the modern Blazer will be a powerful entry yet again.
Owners will have the option of having either front-wheel-drive or an advanced twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system, and have their choice of 20-inch or 21-inch wheels. The interior is also getting an upgrade with some fancy tech. A hitch view camera, hands-free power liftgate, and remote start button will be features of the 2019 Chevy Blazer.
Designed with two rows of seating, additional features will infuse some luxurious style and technology into the crossover. Picture an automatic heated steering wheel, leather seating, and front seats that automatically provide heating or ventilation depending on the automatic temperature control system. There’s also an electronic locking glove box for keeping valuables secure. Driving and total comfort have been merged for this vehicle that is expected to be ready to purchase in early 2019, according to Chevy.
