2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1 Hits Top Speed of 233 MPH
Chevrolet recently released a video highlighting the 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1’s top speed. In the video, we see the automaker take the high-performance sports car to a 7.8-mile test track in Papenburg, Germany. Two ZR1s hit the track to aim for the highest obtainable speed. This top speed was an impressive 233 mph. The 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1 is one of the most powerful iterations of the Corvette ever. Chevy Tests Top Speed Of Corvette ZR1
Chevrolet recently headed to Papenburg, Germany to test the high-performance 2025 Corvette ZR1. The automaker released a video showcasing the build-up to the top speed for the sports car. In the video, we see General Motors’ president Mark Reuss behind the wheel of the ZR1. Reuss achieves a top speed of 233 mph in the ZR1 after a day’s worth of practice. The track used was an oval track at Automotive Testing Papenberg in Germany. A 7.8-mile test track, it served as the perfect testing ground for such a high-performance car.
To reach the top speed of 233 mph, Chevrolet reduced the drag of the ZR1 by utilizing a smaller spoiler as well as a shorter front wicker bill. The sports car used a standard suspension with aluminum wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Of course, what produced such a high speed was what was underneath the hood of the ZR1. Equipped with a new twin-turbo 5.5L V8 engine, the ZR1 sees 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque. Chevy’s engineers have designed every piece of the Corvette ZR1 to produce the best performance from a new intake system to a revamped 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The car’s overall design also helps improve performance with its flow-through hood, front underwing, and carbon fiber side ducts.
About achieving such an impressive top speed, GM President Reuss said, “It’s important inside the company to reach higher, to do things that are like going to the moon.” This is a good mentality as it demonstrates Reuss’s willingness to always improve. Corvette fans are devout and to offer such a powerful iteration as the ZR1 means it must exceed expectations. While many are unlikely to ever reach that 233 mph mark, the ability to do so strengthens the reputation of the 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1. At a starting MSRP of $180,000 (plus destination fee), the ZR1 is one of the most powerful and fastest Corvettes ever produced.
